A very interesting guide. One paragraph seems to sum up the problem I am experiencing with my separate infinity woofer / tweeter set up:-

" Also remember that just because an OEM tweeter is mounted in the A-pillar with the midrange low in the door or kick panel doesn't mean that is where it will really sound the best. While the highest frequencies will seem to be high up above the dash, the overall sound will probably not be coherent across the audible frequency range, especially around the crossover frequency, and it will be difficult to make the system sound its best. Even if mounting the tweeter close to the midrange will place it low in the door or kick panel area, in most every case, it will sound better there with minimal effort, than if they are separated. "

FWH thanks for that

I googled it, didnt come up with anything current. Id be right down the shops to buy that i would if it was current!

Spoke to the owner of an ICE shop today, a very good largish one, he said he had 18 years experience in the business, was going to send me a magazine called "Car Retailer" (?) which was a mag for car ice dealers in the UK, but its for trade only. He also said there wasnt a magazine that he was aware of that specialised in car audio anymore and to NOT trust Fast Car as the word of G-d, on their ratings. Also that if i found a car audio magazine would i please let him know

So doesnt look like theirs much out there at the moment...would just love to see like a top ten of amps, speakers, etc a shootout of sub units where each is candidly rated, reviewed for ie audiiophile, SQL etc. It would save me running around like a headless chicken to dealer after dealer, and each dealer biased to their own.
