I can't speak too much for the 8G / Ti as I've got a 9G, but I can direct you to the following:
The ChrisFix Guide: - Checklist is also useful
Other than that, have a look around the forum in the 8G Bugs / Faults and irritations section and the wiki, https://www.civinfo.com/wiki/index.php/Faults - These give you some of the common issues to look out for.
Most particularly, I'd keep an eye out for the roof rust - check the rubber strip where the roof and windscreen meet for any bubbling, corrosion etc. - If you've got a full honda service history, you can probably make a good will claim, but otherwise it will be something to fix.

As for pricing, I can't be of too much use. If you can drag up some similar examples of 1.4s (If you can find a Ti, that's even better) at the same / lower prices elsewhere, and in a similar condition, it gives you some munitions to negotiate with.

You'll not be winning many drag races, but if you drive the engine, you'll beat the vast majority of those aroud you. On a country lane, I very often catch up and overtake cars of a more performant nature - Just by using the gears, keeping it down in 2nd / 3rd and running it right out to the end of the power band.

As part of doing the IAM, and HPC Young drivers day, I've had a number of well versed passengers comment on the excellent torque and performance for such a small NA engine.

Oh, and as for the boring performance, on a very gentle, toe-tickling the accelerator run, you can squeeze 50mpg indicated out of the 1.4.

If you have any questions, let me know and I'll see if I can be of use

The engine performance is what you would expect from the 1.4; It'll not pull your socks off below 3.5K, but hold it above and you've got plenty of useable power; A benefit of the engine is that you can wring it right out without coming to severe grief with the police / close encounters with hedgerows; As you share the platform with the 1.8, 2.2 and CTR, but have a far lighter engine, you'll find it very happy to carry momentum through the bends.

Have a look at an example overtake I managed: - The engine sounds great inside, as you can hear - This is revving right through 3rd to 4th, from ~45 to ~96 (Filmed in mexico, of course )
