Loxy's Type R #6 - Champ White FN2 #232

Three hours up on the train, two hours back but she's home.

Needs a new clutch but it is already booked into Grinspeed next week, plus 15mm Eibachs are being fitted, FRSU, 75k major service, braided lines and fluid.

Passenger mirror doesn't fold but I think that's the Shut Off Device (S.O.D.) which is an easy fix. I just need to swap the SODs over when I get chance to check it is that and get a replacement ordered.

It has already got front and rear GP kit, Hekos, 10mm spacers front and rear, HKS RSK, Milltek non-res and remapped with Ecutek.

Lovely Pioneer SPH-DA230DAB headunit already fitted which brings it more up to date entertainment wise. AndroidAuto with Waze, Spotify, Amazon Audio, Google Play music etc., DAB.

Happy.

Sounds like a good find there, I've only been with my FN2 for a short while and been reading up on mods etc. So as your name turns up quite a lot I'm sure this is going to be an interesting thread

Hope you enjoy the new car.

Cheers
Dave

How much are Grinspeed quoting for a new clutch?
Think mine is on the way out.

Supplied and fitted just shy of 400 but that may be because I'm having other work done too. Drop them an email, they're quite quick at getting back to you.

John, if you get the parts for the SOD's they are very easy to repair or I will be happy to sort them for you if you posted them to me with the parts

Much appreciated Rick, thanks.

I've not confirmed it yet and I'm working all weekend, then it is in Grinspeed so it may be the weekend after next when I can get the chance but I might take you up on that.

I feel guilty buying your wheels now John, do I recall you saying "Wish I'd never sold the Championship White?" I laughed when I saw you point out that it has an HSK RSK!

Stevie @Grinspeed has provided me with phenomenal pre-sales, courtesy on the day and has even checked up on how I'm getting on with Meister's so far - couldn't recommend them highly enough. Which reminds me, need to get a pre-MOT check, the Meisters checked, and possibly some other bits booked in soon!

First bit of time to get some stuff done.

Swapped out the original shifter with the bolt on short shifter to the quick shifter I had. So, so much better. Skunk2 knob fitted too.

If you are tempted for one of these kits, just don't, please. Listen to Loxy.

Swapping over to a proper quick shifter has removed 90% of the shifting issues on this car. Before the shifting was stiff, you couldn't really tell it if was in 1st or 3rd and the whole box just felt numb. Now it is back to being precise and rifle bolt and still just as short if not shorter.

I've also fitted the grommit for the USB cable into the arm rest cubby so that's nice and neatened off.

And fitted my Brodit, so everything and every eventuality is catered for...

At Grinspeed for a refresh on the old girl today.

This is just a 10am update, probably more to come.

Got here nice and early for a 7am start considering the amount of work on.

Car up and a further look round.

Box dropped and clutch out and oh...

That is defo fecked.

The clutch was being changed anyway, but it has lead to it knackering the flywheel, see below.

Heat spots circled, and you could feel a very definite raised spot there so it had to go.

New M-factory flywheel in.

I hadn't planned on doing that but it will feel better anyway I know that and it won't rip through my new clutch.

Oh and the droplinks are shot, so they're being done too.

Not much else to report. The springs didn't go on today as the dampers hadn't arrived, there wasn't much point stripping it all off.

Clearances and New plugs done.

New fuel filter and assembly.

Lines on and bled along with clutch fluid change and bleed.

I'll only be able to get it back after work tomorrow. Stevie has bent over backwards for me today and is again tomorrow so I can get the car back. Top service!

It will be a bit like Trigger's broom, but can't wait to get it back and see what it looks like on new dampers, springs and a proper setup.

Oh, and it's all cost about the price of an early EP3, but it'll be worth it.

Nice one mate. Looking good! When hetting springs is it advisable to get new dampers too?
