Rob Rae Ok so.....I have a "bolt on" to this debate.

A member posted in the "wanted" that he wanted oem internal bulbs to put his car back to standard.

I posted saying he could have mine for free and I posted them out to him......is that not the same thing?

mpn_daedalus Sorry for the delay. I finally had a free weekend with some decent weather in order to use the sealant.

Little write-up and a few pics here - http://www.civinfo.com/forum/cleanin...e-sealant.html

Thanks again Shaun

No worries As I said in the PM, I'll stick some photos up when I get a chance to use it after this crappy weather has passed.

Massive thanks to Shaun, the car is in dire need of some protection lol. Hopefully the forum rules will be changed so not to discourage other acts of generosity like this.
Thanks for confirming you have received it

Fair point, that was indeed the case. And a pretty nice thing to do!

I guess it's turning all these 'cases' into rules that can be properly enforced that'll need to be considered.

Grayfox You could charge 1 with 1 cashback/rebate offer.

Like most companies do these days

Me: Hold on, better put a for sale thread up first. Im giving something away with no money involved so its not 'for sale' but its complicated??!

A review of rules isnt needed because he's not sold anything and money isnt changing hands. There is no issue.

My 2 pence, but then again i do have to have common sense for a living. There's not much of that on here at times.

Meh..
A review of the rules is needed, because at present you're not allowed to do that if you follow the rules to the letter.

Edit: Having been on other forums that are ruled with an "iron fist" - I'm thankful that the mods are open to discussion rather than just swinging the ban hammer.

I think we all agree that in this instance the Rules are clearly wrong and need reviewing.
Fact is...what the Mods are saying..is that Shaun, however honorable in his intentions, broke the Forum Rules.
Happyman has explained why the thread was removed. His hands are tied too!
Lets hope something good comes out of this..I'm sure it will

All that has happened is that part of the rules we have all agreed to abide by may need to be reviewed. So, in actual fact the thread may help change the rules for the benefit of others - thus, extending Shaun's kind generosity further.

Just do it over facebook next time Shaun like i did for most of my car parts sales, and maybe you wont get your good will thrown back in your face or such a pathetic situation arising.
