No idea how much space there is as the filter is different on the 2.2, but in the past I've always just hammered a long screwdriver through the filter and twisted it off using that as a handle.

Right tried everything but hammering the screwdriver through. Really don't want to do that as I don't want to cover myself and the drive in oil plus there doesnt even seem enough room for that. Putting the cover back and gonna order the tool. Very pi55ed off and cold! Whoever put the oil filter there needs shooting!

I think either get the Tegiwa one or one from the links below I posted for the petrol 65mm tool. Doble Honda seem to be doing them for £2.99 for 2, bargain.

I don't know if the oil filter is the same on the CTR as the 1.8 - anybody?
If it is, then yes you need the one in the first link, from Tegiwa.
Diesel on seems to be 76mm

And the petrol one seems to be 65mm

"Genuine HONDA Filter Tool. These are a must have for any Honda owner. They are perfect fit for all Honda Oil filters (OEM & HAMP) and are used by Honda technicians themselves. They easier to use than all of the universal style removal tools in that you simply use a 17mm socket/spanner to remove the filter... it couldnt be any easier!!"

I bought a ****** Halfords filter, tightened by hand and lost loads of oil on the way to work, eve. Our side loader and truck mechanic couldn't tighten it up,the oil filter seal was really thin compared to a fram one which I replaced it with, that was ok hand tightened..oh and another can of oil !

I let Honda do this car but I used to hand tighten previous cars oil filters, OEM filters and never had a leak, just smeared the seal with oil before fitting to allow more torque. Do it up with a wrench then I found I had to screwdriver the thing off and get oil everywhere!

I changed my oil & filter last weekend.

Dropping the oil is easy - no need to explain.

The filter is tricky though. But I didn't use a tool just turned it by hand while laying on my back under the car.

It does spill oil all over the driveshaft & various other parts though which does need a good clean up afterwards. I did change the filter last year though so it may be I didn't tighten it quite as much as some people see fit. See other peoples method for fitting it i.e. oil the seal & hand tighten then check for leaks after.

Got the oil filter tool today and checked it on my Blue Print replacement filter and its spot on. Just need to hope its not raining now on Saturday and also need to figure out the best way to gain access to the gearbox filler and drain plug so i can change that as well!
