I picked up my new car a week ago today and thought I should get around to posting about it :)

I've got myself a royal blue 1.8 ES. I ordered it with spare wheel, parking sensors and the connect pack (bluetooth, mats, doorstep trim and interior lighting) and I have changed the interior bulbs for blue ones for that all round blue effect :). Plus not forgetting the all important civinfo sticker!

It's been a bit of a mixed bag with some good and some bad experiences!

I'll get the bad out of the way first :)

1. The car was at the dealer from around the end of March but due to me going on Holiday I arranged to collect the car at 10am on 18th April and would be back in England on the 17th. I confirmed this with the dealer several times, including phoning up from Las Vegas a few days before hand to confirm it would be ready. I was assured it would be. I had to get the bus to collect the car and half way there they tell me its not ready as they are missing a wiring loom for the connect pack and it wouldnt be ready until later that day. This was a little frustrating given that I'd taken the day off work to drive my new car

2 By 6.30pm im driving it home. On the way home I notice a blemish on the very bottom right side of the dash... where it curves down past the steering wheel. The paint or whatever it is looked like it had been worn off.

3. I got home, locked the car and went inside to have some dinner before heading out for an evening drive. I came back outside and the car would not start. Pressing the button made it give a half hearted sort of noise and nothing else. I assumed that it was the battery and called the Honda Roadside people who, to their credit, were at my house within 15 minutes. The guy looked at the battery and said the indicator said it required charge so he gave me a jump start and I went off for a couple of hours drive. (The rest of that goes in the good points section :))

4. To top it all off I realise the next day that the dealer must have overcharged me on the deposit. When I collected the car the amount I had to pay seemed high but I had added a couple of things on whilst I was on Holiday so didn't think much of it.

I went into the dealer on Saturday morning, not in the best of moods, to explain all this to them. They changed the battery out there and then and ordered the parts to change the dash and said they'd give me a call. They told me they couldnt pay the money back on to my card so they'd arrange a cheque. All in all I was fairly happy with this as they chucked the spare wheel I had requested in free for the trouble and they were taking steps to get is fixed quickly.

Anyway, enough of the bad!

Before collecting my car I'd had a 4 day test drive so knew what I was in for but it still didn't compare to having one of my own :)

The car is all sorted now, the dash repair was done yesterday and I really love it, the styling is great and I love the high tech interior. My only other driving experience has been a 1.2 punto so my 1.8 ES feels like a supercar in comparison :). I spent most of the weekround driving round country roads trying to run it in a bit and will do the same again this week :).

I also gave it a clean last night. It's the first time I've ever washed a car by hand so I was petrified of damaging the paint but I followed the advice from here and it went fine. I didn't bother with Waxing it i had the smartcover put on by the dealer and it seems to OK, plus the fact it took me long enough just to clean it haha. I'll probably try that out next time I clean it though :).

Anyway, here are a few pics - The first is from my work car park this morning, the middle 2 are not very good as I live in a cramped cul-de-sac with very little parking but are from after I had cleaned it and the last one is from a week ago when I drove down to the south coast.
