Tay S Done!

I followed these steps with a little modification of the the post 157, with the 3.90 version on my fn1 civic 08.

- Create a folder (c:\SATNAV)
- Copy the Dvd content to the folder
- Make a Bitmap with the following characteristics:
- 480x234
- 72x72 dpi
- 16 bit depth
- Color
- 224.712 bytes (*)
- Save the bitman with the name Opening1.bmp in the path (c:\SATNAV)

- Use Bysin to update (Opening1.bmp) the following *2.bin
in the folder created (c:\SATNAV) with the new Bitmap)

- open cmd in this path C:\Satnav\ and type:
  • bysin 07AVNe2.bin update Opening1.bmp Opening1.bmp
  • bysin 09AVNe2.bin update Opening1.bmp Opening1.bmp
  • bysin 10AVNe2.bin update Opening1.bmp Opening1.bmp
  • bysin SEAX2.bin update Opening1.bmp Opening1.bmp
  • bysin SJAZe2.bin update Opening1.bmp Opening1.bmp
  • bysin SMGA2.bin update Opening1.bmp Opening1.bmp

imagen jpg

- Copy all these files in to the root of a DVD-R
  • copy 07AVNe2.bin
  • copy 09AVNe2.bin
  • copy 10AVNe2.bin
  • copy SJAZe2.bin
  • copy SMGA2.bin
  • copy SEAX2.bin
  • copy 07AVNe.bin
  • copy 09AVNe.bin
  • copy A0000_00.MNG
  • copy PRG_INFO.MNG
  • copy SEAX.bin
  • copy SJAX.bin
  • copy SJAX2.bin
  • copy SJAZe.bin
  • copy SMGA.bin
  • copy SMGX.bin
  • copy SMGX2.bin
  • copy UPDATE_APL.exe
  • copy UPDATE_APL_AVN_EU.exe

- Put in your DVD and close the lid.
- After an error, go into the diagnostic menu (3 buttons)
- Chose Version and then Download.
- Wait a few minutes for the data to load and bingo!
- Put the Original DVD back in.

If you make a total mess, put the DVD in, disconnect the battery for a minute

and reconnect (to reload the firmware from the DVD).

This is the Final result!

Smokeycoles Hello, does anyone know if this mod will work with the following spec, and which method is best for it?
Civic EX 2.2 - 2008 year - UK
Database Area (Europe-West 2013-2014)
Database Version 3.80
Software Version 2.92.00

Also does anyone know the latest software version or the 2006-2011 Mk8's?

pesss I just dig out this thread as I've got a copy of the nav update dvd where the fine folks of a polish forum have modified the confirmation/disclaimer screen.

Do any of you know which bmp files based in which bins need to be updated to get a custom screen?
28th September 2013 12:04
Adams thanks for your answer Bog. then, I could only burn a CD with these files?

SMGA2.bin
SMGA.bin
UPDATE_APL_AVN_EU.exe
UPDATE_APL.exe
A0000_00.MNG
PRG_INFO.MNG
DCA0.REG

Bog Your Civic only uses SMGA and SMGA2 so only update that file. The others are for different hardware in different models like the Accord etc.

bysin successfully updates the opening1.bmp files ( I used photoshop to output the bmp and confirmed that after a bysin update, a bysin extract on the file also spat out the correct file.)

Following descriptions on the thread here I copied all files to CD-R but system hits a Disc read error on the download option...

Any ideas?

Below is the script I am using prior to burning to disc. ( the main set of files are in the SATNAV folder, the ones I modify with bysin are in a separate folder) :-

In my iso (v3.23) there are 5 files * 2.BIN: 07AVNe2 SEAX2 SJAZe2 SMGA2 and TL0A2. All contain Opening1.bmp but, while for the first four the size of the bitmap is the usual 224712 bytes, for TL0A2 the size of the bitmap is 47980. If you are using bysin to update this bin you receive the following message: "The size of the updated file must be less-then or equal to the size of the old file. This feature might be introduced in a newer version.
Updated file (COMPRESSED): 56930 bytes Old file (COMPRESSED): 47980 bytes".
Not updating this bin file and burning a CD, however, everything works fine. On the CD there are the following files:

07AVNe.bin
07AVNe2.bin
TL0A2.bin
TL0A.bin
SMGA2.bin
SEAX.bin
SEAX2.bin
SJAX.bin
SJAX2.bin
SJAZe.bin
SJAZe2.bin
SMGA.bin
UPDATE_APL_AVN_EU.exe
UPDATE_APL.exe
A0000_00.MNG
PRG_INFO.MNG
DCA0.REG

At this point, a couple of questions: I need to update TL0A2 or not? and if I have to update it, as I do?
I accept suggestions

You need a small "1/2 DIN" DVD 12V player - it has to be connected to the SatNav drive for pictures - needs a separate audio connection via an aux in device

[Bog] - in here - is the guy for all the details - he's the expert !!!

detail as possible to describe where to insert the DVD disc, and what to do?

J. Derek Riddell You can watch movies on the SatNav screen

But not from the SatNav DVD drive

You need a separate DVD drive, and an interface module

Send [Bog] a PM - he is the "go to guy" for all this

Mikrob For this you can use the screen, except for navigation?
