You sound pretty experienced at 'cleaning' so you probably already know this......
But my wifes car is now two months old. I just use an alloy wheel protector on the wheels and then wash them regularly with a hose/warm water & car shampoo/and dry off with a cloth. I put on a couple of coats of the protector to begin with and have then topped it up every couple of weeks. I haven't needed to use an alloy wheel cleaner once yet - and the wheels still look as new.
If you run out of your wheel protector a coat of polish like SRP will do the trick
