Romcorin I've now parted company with my EP3 - It was great fun while it lasted. R.I.P

Romcorin Thanks Farqui. I'll leave it if it means monkeying around with electrics.

Farqui Instead of worrying about the rack/motor, I'd first focus on the battery and ensuring it has solid cable connections/earths.

Romcorin Car sits around for long periods between drives. In times of better weather where it stays dry for days then it'll get driven more frequently. It had a new battery fitted at Honda in 2013 or 2014.

Farqui How long has the vehicle been sat and how old is the battery?

Romcorin I was giving the EP a run out on Saturday and ended up sitting in traffic for a while. The EPS light came on after about 5 minutes sitting stationary in a queue and the steering wouldn't move until I revved the engine up a bit, then all was good and the light went out. I haven't experienced this before and am now wondering if the rack or the motor is on its way out.

Well, how does one become a supporter then? I've bought the stickers - please don't say 'oh, we have to see evidence of these stuck to the car...!'

Anyway, I have a separate issue and I can't seem to find the appropriate section to post in. This morning at home I tried three times to log in to the forum and I couldn't log in. I'm using a regular Home PC running Windows 7 and using CHROME as the browser. Any thoughts as to why this happens? Avast anti-virus is installed.

If I'm to present a For Sale ad, I need to be doing that from home as photos of car are on home PC hard drive.

Romcorin Looks like I don't have enough postings on CIVINFO to be able to make a for sale ad. Do I have to buy a forum sticker to be able to make a for sale ad, or is it purely down to number of posts?

Chrisdubya Shame to torch it dude lol. Bung an advert on here, someone may be interested in it if its cheap enough and maybe even show it a track or 2 before it goes to car heaven... let us know

flashy If you torch it I'll take the wheels

Romcorin I now need to part with my EP3. Given that it still works and that it has six months MOT remaining, I won't be giving it away. What I am prepared to do though is bring the price down in view of the amount of work that needs doing to it and the condition of the vehicle. So it would be a good candidate for somebody (preferably an enthusiast)with the requisite tools, mechanical skills and ramp access to sort the problems, and not break it for spares! A lot needs to be done.

At the last MOT, it passed, but with advisories. I haven't addressed these yet. Current mileage is 207338. It is original, has only 2 owners with me being the second since 2005. It has never been smoked in. I have all the paperwork, V5C, Leather wallet and crucially, both keys.

It will also be offered for sale locally to where I live with adverts going out this weekend. So in all reality, the first reasonable offer will get it.

Have a look back through the thread to see pics of the car if you're interested.

No interest means that it will probably be torched in a lay-by at night somewhere.

Romcorin ok

Romcorin After servicing the front caliper sliders again, I am hoping to have a go at servicing the rear calipers tonight. A couple of questions though...
1. Do I have to take the handbrake cable off the caliper first before unbolting it from the carrier bracket?
2. As I don't have caliper wind back tool, am I going to run into trouble refitting the caliper over the pads once I've reassembled everything else?

14th May 2018 23:53
Romcorin With another refurbed n/s/f caliper and new front pads fitted today, the after work fun drives are back on the agenda. Hopefully there won't be a puddle of brake fluid inside the wheel tomorrow morning.

Romcorin Oh jeez. I'll have to have a think about it now. I'm just a bit peeved that I can't go for a fun drive after work because the front brakes are binding & overheating. I wasn't planning on replacing both front calipers but there you go.

musegroove And I'll take the rest

(Being serious!)
