I've seen the previous posts re changes for the 09 model year however it appears that the CTR has escaped the changes ( excluding the launch of the new limited edition white CTR ) Am i correct on changes specifically to the Type R? There looks to be some great deals on 08 build spec CTR's for 59 registration if nothing much has changed.

Hunt around - there are some good deals on the 09's aswell, seriuosly.. I got my CTR an 08 Build, but 09 plate NHB on the premise that they wouldn't be offering the deal on 09 CTR's.. what d'ya know - I pop int there the other day, and it's all over the show room - the exact same deal but on MY09 builds.

Civic Type R GT 2009

Hi New to this forum so forgive me if I am parroting earlier conversations. I have an 09 plate civic type R which I began leasing from new in May 2009, but my car does not have the usb port in the arm rest!!! does this mean I have actually got the pre facelift model registered as an 09? :( If this is the case all I am looking for is a way to connect my iphone to my type r so that it can be controlled through the steering wheel and charged also. I have seen similar posts recommended denilson ICE units and how to dismantle the dash etc, although I have the ability to this quite easily I am taking the lazy route after years of moding cars can no longer be bothered lol I saw an advert for Halfords of all places offering a service for around £100 offering a fitted connection kit, will this satisfy my requirements as couldnt find any details on thier website?

Hi mate

If you don't have USB etc in the arm rest then it sounds likely yes you do have an MY08 car on an 09 plate. Also check to see if it has HIDs - another difference between the two.

To be sure, you will need to check then VIN number when you get the car. If it is the older model, well... could be worse - I have a 59 plate which is MY08

Ha, but seriously the biggest gripe for me was lack of iPod connectivity like yourself and as part of my deal on the car I got the Honda kit fitted FOC. It's fine for my purposes but not the most user friendly system out there, others recommend Dension as you say and Dice and XCarlink. You will find loads of comments and opinions if you search the forum as to which is best for your needs.

They should all charge your iPhone, the non-honda units also don't freeze the controls when connected unlike the Honda OEM one and yes control through the steering wheel for playing music applies with all of them.

As for Halfords, I remember someone posting about this service a while ago but have no idea if they took it up - personally I've never seen it advertised or made clear in a branch. It's your call as to whether or not you'd be happy letting them loose on your new car???

Mine was done by my Honda dealer (again, part of the deal) and to be fair they did a very neat and tidy job. Plenty of members have tackled the install themselves following the How To guide on here and got on just fine.

Good luck with the new ride and let us know how you get on

Cheers

Nick
