I bought a earthing kit from LeeH (great item) because I was having trouble with dimming lights when I'm using electrics in the car (windows, AC, rear de-mister etc...).
I fitted the kit as per LeeH's instructions (also followed Loxy's How2) and I've given it a test and it's exactly the same . Have I missed a trick here? Did you do anything different Loxy?
I'd advise taking it to a dealer to have a proper look. I don't think the earthing kit us designed to sort issues like that, it's more engine blunt then anything
"Earthing kits work by better grounding the negative electrical components on the car to reduce voltage fluctuations and avoid damage. An example can be seen when you turn the rear window/mirror heaters on or wind the windows down etc and you can see the lights dim ever so slightly."
This is the exact same problem I am getting and want to know if Loxy has cured it by fitting the earthing kit?
gonna say you got more of a problem than just wires all you can do is make sure they tight at the joints, i cant see you improving it anymore, i suggest taking it to a dealers.
Well, my battery is still working, so don't fancy changing it yet... but when it starts dying, I'll get more powerful one.
From what I've read, getting battery mount for diesel is good, as you can fit a little larger battery which should also help a bit.
*but*, as for Xenon's dimming (yes, I have it too) - it's also down to crappy poor **** ballasts used.
I did Xenon retrofit on my old Civic and used Hella ballasts.
Let's put it this way: I can turn lights on, crank engine, and while it's cranking light output is exactly the same, no dimming, no nothing... on the other side, on my 'new' Civic with i-Shift, you can notice light flicker for anything that uses a bit more electrical power -> i-Shift changing gear, ABS/VSA working, etc, etc..
After 2 weeks of use I confirm that is the solution.
I don't know if the solution is the high "Cold Cranking Amps: (EN) CCA" or the "Capacity: (EN) Ah"; what i can say is that with an Optima YellowTop YT U 4.2 i SOLVED the problem. [smilie=thatworks.g:
