It is a cracking car, bear in mind though

It is up for replacement in the next 18-24 months I think

Why have they let you borrow it for a couple of days?? I test drove one last week, and was only allowed half an hour supervised drive, AND I'm a copper!!!

Hi Mark im on very good terms with my dealer mate...my car is with them for some work too.

Its an awesome car went for a good drive this evening loved the noise it made...im still grinning. Cant choose between the FN2 and the S2000 in respect of which i would rather own but they are both great and different cars.

Now I was looking for something for going back and forward to work yesterday and stumbbled across a 2001 S2k with 22k on it for 7k at a dealer not too far from me which specialises in your R8's, 911 Turbo's etc.

I'm now having to smack myself around the head because that's not quite what I had in mind for a run around but its soooooo tempting, its a Feb 2001 so it gets the old rate road tax of 185 and not the new road tax of 455. Only issue its grey but it does have the red leather interior.

I think I may just have to give in and buy it then I can have the best of both worlds even though I already have a convertible but my Dad is looking at getting the 645ci M Sport Convertible and I'm not sure if he's going to keep the M3 or get rid which then makes my decision all the worse

I may well just go for it, I mean 7k for one of them is not to be overlooked, plus I know with a Honda that its going to be reliable and I don't care about the paint now ha ha. Just don't know where I am going to put a thrid car tho. Already got 5 on the drive and one in the garage

Angie I had an '04 S2000 which had infinitely better paint than my new Type R. I think you will find an earlier S2000 has proper non eco friendly paint which will not chip off if you hit a falling leaf at 69 mph !
Lots of good stuff on the S2k website forums.
Go buy it you wont be sorry but the Boxters you overtake will be !

The guys I have spoken to who have older and newer ones all say that you commit to having a bonnet respray at least every 2 years with the S2k. I did see a cracking ex demo one at a dealer in Kirkaldy, lovely blue colour with the body kit - GT spec - STUNNING!!!

Angie the guys you have spoken to must be unlucky then - I did 30k miles in the 2 years I had mine and it was no worse than any of the other cars I have had. The bonnet didnt need a respray. My CTR however is much much worse !
My S2000 was the GT version and the hardtop is very civilised but then the hood is good too and is fun to have down on a dry winters day.
The extra power and extra revs make for a lot more fun and although it is a bit tail happy that can be fun if you like going sideways.
Hope you buy it.

Probably find that these guys get right up the back end of others in front. Plus some of the roads in this part of the world are crap. The ones beside me have loads of lose chipping 24/7 and it seems to be how they fix them too. So I can see where they are coming from.
