3 generations of CRX/Civic

Just wanted to share some picture that I took this weekend of three generations of Hondas.

The blue one is a EE8: a 1992 CRX VTEC (150 bhp) that I bought used in 1997. I just sold this car to my cousin from Sweden.

The green one is a EK4: a 1997 Civic VTI (160 bhp) that my father bought for my mother after have test driven my CRX. She has kept it ever since, absolutely loves it and has no intention of switching to another car anytime soon!

The white one is the FN2 (2010 Civic Type R Championship White, 201 bhp) that I just bought to replace the CRX.

Three generations, respectively generations 4, 6 and 8, if I am not mistaken, meaning there is exactly one generation between each of these.

Enjoy the pics !

The CRX looks good in any color. As a matter of fact, the CRX looks great, period. In my opinion, of the three cars above, the CRX has the sleekest, classiest, most timeless look of all. It's a bulls-eye in terms of looks, even better than the new CRZ I think!

Memories.........
I had the exact same CRX although mine was 1990. best car i've ever owned.
Until an uninsured driver crashed head on into me and wrote it off.
Im sure your cousin will be very pleased.

I remember your story from my other thread on the CRX. Very sad indeed. I can say, however, that although I will miss my CRX, I don't think I will regret it. I see you have a CTR too now. That's the way to go !

Thanks. Three great cars to drive. Very different, yet they all have that unique, "raw" VTEC feel.

Indeed, it's almost shocking to see the two cars next to each other, as the 8th gen civic is really dwarfing the S800. Although I guess it would be fairer to compare the S800 to the S2000 at least in size, as these are both strictly two-seaters. As a matter of fact, the guy who owns the S800 coupe also owns a S800 cabriolet from the same period, which would be a direct ancestor ofthe S2000.

Good catch, and yes the owner is aware of this. However, I would love my own car to look this good in 40+ years (if I were to keep it that long of course) !

Actually, I just learned from the owner that this is actually cooling liquid, but not due to a leak but rather an overfill. The car has an oil leak as well, but way too small for it to be noticeable like this. Then again, most engines leak some marginal amount of oil...

No, really, this S800 is in superb shape, and since taking these pictures, I was even honored to test drive it on the road. Like taking a trip in a time machine. Truly a unique experience

Time Travel that's right ! Must be a real pleasure to ride such a car. So few have been imported in Europe, and even less in France. Sporty, lightcar, it was really another way of thinking.
