I am seeing a slight improvement in load times, but its still slow compared to most sites. I really do think that hosting thousands of miles away from the majority of users cant be helping.

Thanks for the feedback.

Improving the speed of the forum is something we're looking into.
Will provide a clearer update when I get more info.

Is that not what you have been doing since you took over the site?
Took a mere 7 seconds to get here this time.

Took 7.8 seconds to get here this time. Previous 4 page loads were: 37, 8, 39 and 19 seconds.
When are you guys going to get something that can serve up web pages faster than a snail with an abacus?
This really is pissing people off a lot.
It would possibly be faster if you used two tin cans and a length of string.

Reminds me of the old HP3000 37's in the early 80's.

Hit the go button then go and put the kettle on while it loads.

These days there's no excuse for the 20 to 30 secs page loads. Never had this problem under native vBulletin.

Took 16.1 seconds to get here this time.
Gives me time to pop out into the other room and keep up with Tipping Point though.
What do you mean 20 - 30 secs. 40-50 is more like it this afternoon.

It does vary from 5 to 10 secs to 50 to 60 secs depending on each visit.

Do Verticalscope have all their 40 or 50+ sites all on a narrow bandwidth and they swap wires temporarily as each one complains.

It was 5 to 10 secs last week for a day or 2 but it's dropped back again.

"waiting for civinfo.com" is getting boring and annoying.

I still think it's links to advertisers that is the issue. The adverts are probably random or on a loop and if it's the turn of a slow one, or more, then the page doesn't load till all advert links are established.
Seen it before where this was the issue.

Did I say 40 or 50 ......

VerticalScope is an integrated multi-platform media company that owns and operates over 1400 websites in high-consumer spending verticals, including auto and power sports with its AutoGuide Group.

With over 120 million uniques per month across their platform, VerticalScope knew its sites played an important role in the automotive consumer decision journey and wanted to use their wealth of valuable user generated content (UGC) to increase clicks while decreasing cost per acquisition (CPA) for its advertisers.

Lotame / VerticalScope Solution

DMP for First Party Data Collection: The first step in putting this valuable data to work was to collect it. VerticalScope deployed the Lotame tag across their network of sites to collect four major types of very valuable data in the automotive decision journey:

1st PARTY SITE VISITATION AND INTEREST DATA: Consumers who visit the over 600 automotive sites that VerticalScope owns and operates.
1st PARTY ENGAGEMENT DATA: Consumers who actively read content associated with any given make and model by using a combination of Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning.
1st PARTY IN-MARKET DATA: Consumers that engage in key shopping behaviors i.e. locate a dealer, build and price, comparisons, reviews etc. within the last 7 days.
1st PARTY MEMBER DATA: Consumers that join these communities and use the platform for connecting and communicating with each other.
AUDIENCE TARGETING: Once this data was collected, it was used to build precise audience targets to reach consumers most likely to engage with the campaigns.

Real Results

For a recent automotive campaign, VerticalScope used its UGC to power data-driven campaigns that resulted in:

24% decrease in Cost Per Acquisition
67% increase in Click Through Rate

Client Quote

“Auto forum community data is ACTIVE data - it is UGC - outside of Facebook, it is the best source of this kind of data at scale” said Jason Downie, Chief Strategy Officer at Lotame. “It’s not only great for identifying web influencers (which brands love) but auto forum data is directly collected from the web - there is no middle-man - behaviors are injected directly into the Lotame cookie.”

VerticalScope also boasts a robust solution to address brand safety when it comes to running media in user generated content. “We use 3rd party technology that actively tracks for inappropriate language and employ over 9,000 human moderators who monitor content for quality and brand safety” said David Domitrovic, Sr. Sales Engineer at VS Labs (VerticalScope’s Data Science division) .

About Verticalscope Inc.

Whatever! (with finest truculent teenage inflection.)
I don't give a monkeys about all that guff. I do care about the age that I have to wait for nearly every page to load.

If anyone who is getting regular slowness can grab us a fresh HAR file, we'll show to the techs. Last fix only bought us short reprieve, and if that didn't do it then there either is something else to find or something new has hit us

Still best guide I know for getting a HAR: https://support.zendesk.com/hc/en-us...roubleshooting

On a complete aside, on my post: https://www.civinfo.com/forum/genera...ml#post5457102
I'm unable to edit the OP or any older posts?
Shortly after making a post the edit button is there - But seems to disappear; Is there a max edit age on that board? I've got the "May edit post" permission as per the box in the bottom left - And I am logged in

Yes there is an edit 'window'. Been there since almost day 1.

That is to stop editing that will make subsequent posts look silly.
