Poor customer service here at Civinfo for a bit

Last week the monthly crash outside our house this time took out the telegraph pole, removing all phone/internet from a handful of houses. Thus I have no internet at home (or at work) until 30 Nov when BT promise to fix it.

So apologies if emails and PMs take time to be answered.

blimey - when you said 'taken out the pole' I didn't realise you meant quite as drastically as that!

Apparently that's how they break - the compression waves whoosh up the pole and cause it to shatter from the inside.

It all nearly went horribly wrong - the traffic lights were set at red at both ends while the engineers laid cables across the road for lifting up - and a tool doing about 60 (40 limit) jumped the lights and raced straight into where the workers, wires and I was. He saw the blocked road, locked up, skidded past us sideways, through the cones and into the kerb. Missed everything, just, and then made his way on.

Anyway, back on now, so I'll be a bit speedier with the emails and so on!

I can believe they crash on a regular basis. Look at the picture: they drive on the wrong side of the road!

Hmm I think that must explain a lot of the bad driving in the UK....

Funny thing is though, when Sweden (once upon a time) had cars driving on the "wrong" side of the road, the cars were still LHD!!!

Yep, didn't know until recently, read it in the swedish car mag 'vi bilägare' regarding the 40th anniversary of the change over. Definately a bit strange, but a huge advantage right from the start.

My job is climbing that poles, so I have seen worse damage than that pole!
