Window tinting spray or film?

Hi folks,

I'm looking to get the windows in my tourer tinted in the coming months.. i was looking at film options but a colleague had his audi done last year and tint was sprayed on... its more expensive that film (at least a third) He reckons its better as it won't bubble or wear and to be fair it looks well.. a quick google of the two methods though suggest spraying went out with the dinosaurs and film is totally the way to go... Now i'm a fussy bugger in terms of screen films on phones and tablets etc - bubble or imperfections drive me nuts..

What are peoples experience or advice on either method?

Cheers,
Mick

hi there, i personally wouldn't go down the route of spray tinting, and when it comes to tinting film, firstly have you got any scratches on the inside of your windows, as this will show up in the end result, second i would recommend you go to a well known place that does window tinting around your local area and see how they do the other peoples cars and if you like the results then go for it, tell them if you have any scratches on the inside of you windows that you want tinting, and then you can take it from there, coz if your fussy like you said then you cant blame them if you got scratches or a bubble where a scratch is,

I had my previous car tinted very well. Take it to a professional tinters, have it filmed and you would have thought it had left the factory like that.

Film on rears. Cost 70. You can buy it yourself for much cheaper but it's tricky to put on

Nub, you seem to visit the emptiest car parks in the UK. Do people in Eastbourne just shop online or are you out at 6am?

Nub you just had the 2 side rears done? I like that. Avoids the rear lower issue!

Side rears are most noticeable so I just did them so it looks cooler. Both rears would better I guess but they're not as noticeable IMO

Here's another. I got the darkest shade available at this place, although I'm sure other options are available. I don't know what % it's rated at but I think he compared it to Limo tints

I'd go with the film, done at a experienced tinted. I used to tint Windows myself a few years back. If you take your time you can do it yourself but it can be a pain sometimes. Specially the larger tailgate glass. And if your fussy its best left to someone who does it all the time. If you get it done walk round and check it all before you pay. I wouldn't have sent a car out I did with any bubbles or anything else wrong.
