Type R Revealed at last

Type R official pictures from Autocars website - slightly disappointing re the wheel type and size, otherwise some nice touches with the interior can't wait for my test drive promised by my dealer.....

I am liking the loss of the black plastic wheel arches and lower sills.

But of course they are not holding back for the Type RR. Oh no. It doesn't exist. Which is why people keep talking about something that doesn't exist.

I'm both worried and excited by this picture

because it appears that Honda have developed an all new, driving by invisible (x-rays? infa-red?) 'lights' on-board computer
Capable of driving at speeds of up to 70 (mph - RHD car?) in complete darkness, it does however, seem to still rely on the driver to change gear - 6500 revs.

I'm a bit concerned tho.

I know this new Type-R is supposed to have a hot engine, but didn't realise they meant literally...

more seriously though, looks like there are a few bits and peices which might be of interest...

Bigger air induction scoop through the revised lower spoiler
Type-R brakes
Nice seats! :P
Much lower gearknob (might just be the knob itself is shorter)

my cynical idea was that they'd just changed the sticker from '-----Revs----' to '-----VTEC-----' and wired all 6 LEDS together

But I prefer your answer!

I noticed another improvement in Type-R interior. Shiny dash board is gone . Now it seems to be mat and more scratch resistant.

I wonder if that facia can be fitted to a normal Civic. Can't see why not, the controls look the same at a glance. Although I do like the seamless look of the glossy console, the matt one might prove to be more durable.

Car looks great, would love to drive one, but it may make my mundane 1.8 ES seem too boring afterwards.

love my gearlever but wouldnt mind a leather thingy around it still.

would bei ntrested if door handles and fuel cap are metal.

interior materials would be intresting to see. the scratchy plastic has gobe but dont like the look of the replacement.

seems a little bit too mishmash if you ask me.
