The Williams-Renault that Patrese used to pilot was one the most sophisticated F1 cars ever made and was the class of the field in 1992.

The earlier turbo powered cars in the 80's were the fastest though, the Honda engined Williams had 1500bhp, from just a 1.5 litre engine. Shows the power of turbocharging!

I like F1 but the Turbocars/High tech Active suspension cars never really did much for me. I liked the Cosworth DFV (late 60s to early 80s) and I quite like the newer High revving V8s (and the old V10s). I dont like Turbo road cars either with all those extra pipes and intercoolers and blow off valves creating all that heat and drag (no good for a modern F1 car either). I like a nice neat engine bay and the power at the top end like a motorcycle engine .

Yeah I went to Silverstone in 1989 as a Mansell fan and came away as a Senna supporter

Off the subject a bit but this is what GP cars are all about for me
