Honda civic Type R (FN2) third gear issues, Aussie owners please click in.

Hello Folks,
I am thinking of getting one of this car in next 1 or 2 months, however, I saw quite a huge amount of people that are experiencing the 3rd gear problem on their FN2. Would be so much appreciated to know that how many mates here had this problem before or suffering this now and which year of the model are your guys owning?

Best regards,
Lou

I'm not an Aussie, nor a Type R owner, but my FG2 has pretty much the same engine, and has the same tranny. I (as well as many, many other Si owners) had the notchy/grindy/ pop out 3rd gear problem. I'm not sure what Honda in other parts of the world are doing about this problem, but so many people complained about it in the US, that they finally relesaed a TSB about it.

I got my 3rd gear assembly changed out with the new parts under the TSB, and my tranny has been perfect ever since. Now it's the way it should have been from the factory.
