Just accept the civic.

I would say my FN2 Type R Gt is in the same class as the St, Leon and the VXR astra ect. I was out in my mates Remapped VXR astra today, Honestly the difference is massive, you would have to sell a kidney for the amount of modds you would need to get a type R anywhere near it.

I now know that spending stupid amounts of money trying to make the civic fast is a waste of time and money, your never going to keep up christ I got tottaly whoped by a 330d Bmw, the civic didnt stand a chance.

For £200 less than a decent airfilter for the civic the other boys are getting over 275bhp, dont say you get them on handeling because you wont, A good driver justs backs them off and feeds in the power and they corner just as good as the civic then slaughter you on the strates.

So my view is, the civic is a fantastic looking car, very very well made and thats it, if you want to go fast then just dont buy one, I just think Honda have got the engine so wrong in the fn2 Type R.

Im just going to accept it for what it is, Im just gonna look after it then get rid next spring.

Sorry boys for been negative.

lol

It's a N/A car, what did you expect? spend 600 quid and kick out 300 BHP ?

How can you say Honda have got the engine so wrong ...... standard Vs Standard it stands up too all of the turbo boys ....

Coupled with the sweet gearbox it has too be one of THE finest NA engines available.

I would say Honda have got it very right. It's not all about BHP and traffic light grand prix. NONE of the other cars can give you as much entertainment.

I think you bought the wrong car ?

p.s the 330D must of been remapped

If you just want straight line power, then the CTR is the wrong car for you. If you want something crisp and responsive, then you're not going to want a turbocharged car. Horses for courses!

The magazine 'Car' had a head to head with the subaru and the CTR won! It wasn't on power alone but on ability, handling and sheer drive ability. Power isn't everything.

If you drive well then a fabia 1.4 can beat a 330 bmw

I would echo the comments of Pottsy and Neemstar.

Terry, did you really not know any of this before spending the best part of £20k

Thanks for the replys

Right firstly, as I have been told the 330d's are around 240bhp standard and more torque than you can shake a stick at.

How can you say they got the engine right, when they have had a 2000cc engine pushing out 240bhp in the s2000 for how many years ?? surly things have moved on since then and over 240bhp is very easly achievable straight out the box.

Im not looking for a straight liner, but maybe I expected a little more than the civic had to offer. As for home work on the car before I Bought it, well I did, but everywhere you look has different opinions, Top gear and Fifth gear are different, just look on here ! no one can aggree on airfilters, people come on and say there Type r pulls away from St's, then after you buy one you find out they dont!

Dont get me wrong, I civic is a fantastic looking and very well made and enjoyable to drive, but as I have said before I have had an S1 and S2 elise 160 and not long ago sold a very well sorted Evo6 so I guess the Civic has a very tough act to follow, not that I expect it to compare, I just thought it would be faster, they have no excuse when they have what must be a 8 year?? old 240bhp engine sat on there shelfs.

I would like to add I have no intensions of upsetting people on here,, just my thoughts.

Thanks all.

IF you go to the gallery section and choose 'post thread' then you click on the paper clip icon and post pics that way.

I think that people react to the absolute comments you have made rather than anything else. A car can be driven in many ways and sheer power isn't always the answer. The CTR is a great car, it isnt the fastest but it has character and can hold it's head up proudly.

I agree with you that just because you haven't posted pics means you haven't got one.

Thanks for the piccy info, Ill look in to it.

I have said all along its a fantastic car,, but I think they have used the wrong engine, especially when they have the engine already there.

Well, my thought is the following: I've been *****. What else to say? HP is never enough for a good driver but you can live with 140HP. Civic is a great ride and it's not just about fancy look: in runs great too.

P.S. After all this BMW ******r damaged my fog light (replace), grille (replace) and cowling (re-paint) with stones .

Edit (pottsy) to comply with the forum rules re road racing.

330d's are also considerably heavier than a R ...

I think you're right, you are comparing the CTR to completely different cars and it does have a lot too live up to in your case.

I also wonder why they didn't put the S2000 engine in the R or even why the FD2 is kicking out more power but that is the decision that was made. I know part of it is too meet the euro environmental standards which become compulsory in 2010.

You can't deny it is a very fun and talkative car. Much more than it's rivals. The gearbox is awesome and when driven right it is very rewarding.

If you're idea of homework is too listen too top gear et al then well ........

Surely you knew the CTR was a very difficult car too mod ? Surely you took the car for a test drive and saw the power delivery e.t.c

I respect your opinions as everyone is entitled too one.

I just think you made a MONUMENTAL error and now you're kicking yourself.

Ill give you 10k for it, don't mind another one
