Bad burning smell

Was driving the CTR today and when I stopped noticed a burning smell from the front of the car, only vtec'd maybe twice. Never noticed the smell before and decided i'l wait a little while and see how it is then.

Took the car out for about 10 mins and didnt go near the vtec but the smell is back and just as bad as it was when I did vtec it.

Any ideas what it is, its a very pungent smell of burning rubber yet i wasn't spinning wheels.

Nothing it's normal from time to time anyway, have you got any mods, I'm getting quite a bit of burning smell from my Milltek exhaust while it burns off the wd-40 I used to grease the separate parts.

Don't worry about yours though.

Have a read of this thread.

If you're concerned though take it into your dealer.

Yeah if it does get regular, take it to the dealer, but once in a while is normal IMO.

Could be something a simple as a polythene carrier bag that has got caught under the car and has melted onto the exhaust as I have seen this a couple of times on customers cars who have come into the garage where I work.

i've noticed this on mine for the past few days. After i park up and walk away from the car there is a distinct burning smell coming from the rear end. It seems to be the same regardless of how i have driven the car. I assumed it was the cat.
I have done almost 9000 miles now.

I had burning smell coming from front of my Civic a few months ago, however that was due to my garage leaving an oily rag in the bottom of the engine bay after a service! Not impressed!

Seems to be coming from the front driver brakes I think. Went to dealer and they said "50 quid if you want it diagnosed" Should they be charging me this if the car is only 6 months old and well within warranty?

No they shouldn't, it's covered under the manufacturers warranty.

I sometimes get that smell after a good iVTEC session and i've located mine to the fan belt region, maybe the belt itself.
It's not as bad now.
