Mission completed...????

hi i joined this forum the end of november having just purchased my new ctr in milano red i just wasnt happy enough with the basic ctr looks.so i was on a quick mission to get it the way i wanted?as of today it is the car i wanted.reasons it needed all round tints 60% at the rear screen 50% at the 2 rear quarter windows 35% at the passenger/drivers windows=160
decals and emblem badge which takes the bare look away from the car 80.the type r mats 80 which i love and add a luxury look to the already lovely interior.and last but not least the icing on the already stunning cake the rage 19" alloy wheels fitted them in minus 1 cold tonight MY GOD they transform the look of the car stunning hadnt seen them on a ctr in the metal.but after all that which is a lot of money to me its finished.no more is being spent on it.hence mission complete

You'll need to show us some pictures with your new wheels fitted.

Good luck with the sale.

Jassyo, where did you get your window tinting from? and is the 35% on front the legal limit? I'm going to get this done but if you've had good results i'd go to the same place as i'm in glasgow too.
Cheers

35% is not legal but you will get away with it, I have 55% which is dark enough for me. The place is I used is in hamilton, he done all of my cars and I cannot fault him.

off topic, boystime and jassyo, what are your regs so i can look out for them as I'm usually in glasgow (pm maybe)

Sorry but the standard front windows are already at the legal limit (as they have a tint already) so Chan your now at 15% light getting through.

Just a wee word of warning for you, just incase.

Anyone who says that you don't get stopped and pulled for these things hasn't seen traffic Cops on BBC1 - Pulled one woman the other week who was only letting 13% light through and made them start to remove them at the side of the road.

35% on the front windows is hardly noticeable, had it done on my last car.chances of getting pulled by the boys in blue for that alone in a new are in my opinion very slim even anorexic.......

I'd keep the stereo turned down, unfortunately tweeked cars do not only attract admiring glances.

I never knew they come with a standard tint, well from my knowledge, the fronts should let in roughly 40% light and you can hardly tell they're tinted during the day. I have owned a few cars with tints and been stopped a few times, they just gave me warnings as they weren't too dark unlike some cars.

As I said before - The windows from the B Pillar forward are tinted to 30% as standard so letting 70% light through which is the legal requirement! Adding a tint of 55% on top then becomes 85% tint and 15% light transmittion.

As for it being a slim chance of being oulled - think again! People may think that coppers have got other things to do but traffic units are on the look out for this and trust me they do carry the equipment to test your car at the side of the road when you have been pulled. Some will make you remove them at the side of the road, some however will so that and present you with a fine and 3 points.

This is a word of advice to the people on this site who aren't as clued up as others and get led up the garden path by some being told 'its alright'. These are the ones who get caught. However if you are getting the windows from the B pillar forward tinted then you should usually be made to sign a disclaimer so that you can't come back and take action against the company or person tinting the car because they should have told you about the legal requirments. If they have failed to so so then they are breaking the law
