Warning light questions

Might sound like a rookie question but needs must!

When I turn the key in my FN2 to turn all the electrics on (but do not start the engine) I've got a few lights that stay on. Battery, oil, power steering & check engine.
The check engine one goes after a few minutes but the others remain.

What does this mean?

When engine is running there is no warning lights whatsoever!

Advice? Do these things need looked at?

That's perfectly normal, the sensors are active but not registering values e.g. oil pressure.

So they remain lit until you fire up the ignition.

All cars do this, is this your first rodeo?

You should only worry about warning lights that are still lit once the engine is running.
