I'm checking mine once a week. Those engines like to use oil. When i was on 0W30 and use lot of vtec i was toping up every week to keep it at max. Now i'm on 5W40 checked after week and use was minimal, but will wait till one month to say if it really reduce consumption.

Thankyou for answer but i think is little to much for 700 km to spent almost 1 l of oil.

It's a litre between min and max marks. I use castrol edge 0w 30 and fair amount of vtec and I have to check it weekly, it burns a lot of oil.

Well, up to 1 liter per 1000 kilometers is ok, but considering half of 700 is on vtec i wouldn't worry too much. What oil viscosity you using?

I haven't put any oil in since mine was serviced, in November. It's actually just under max and I do about 1000 miles a month

I heard that good engines (more powerfull in stock spec) taking more oil, and i can confirm that my FN2 is most powerfull out of three type r's i had... One EP3 was taking normal amount of oil, other nothing, but they were nowhere near as fast as FN2 which takes about 1 liter per 800 miles (let's say 1200 kilometers).
5W40 is the better oil if it comes to consumption - 0W30 will be worst since it's "thinner" oil.
My KTM motorbike takes about 1 liter per 1000 kilometers and it's within manufacturer spec. As long as you can't smell oil burning from exhaust, doesn't see blue smoke and toping up oil often i wouldn't worry.

hmm, maybe is that who knows. I will follow up oil level and see.Maybe used some more oil because is fresh oil recently added.I got only 700km on this shell oil and it's very stupid to change now because oil is new.
Thank you for answer!

mine drank castrol edge 5w30 at a rate of 1l every 2-3000 miles, have since changed to fuchs titan pro race 5w40 and it hasn't used a drop since. (last november, roughly 3000 miles)

Agree. If v-tec is usually used, 5w40 is the best option. Are a lot of posibilties in this viscosity, Castrol are thinner, and others like Motul are more viscous.
Here a table.

5w30 could be good in normal conditions, 0w30 i think is very thin for this engine. However Castrol actually recommend 0w20...

I thought 0w 30 was too thin aswell, it's like water makes it hard work to getting a decent reading on dip stick but it's what Honda told me they put in on my oil changes
