Which Throttle Body...

Hi All,
Got some mods on the Fn2 now,Tegiwa Decat, Milltek, hks,fd2 oil pump, clockwise baffle, Flashpro and soon to be fitted RRC manifold with thermal gasket.
Car is booked in to be mapped at eurospec in a few weeks, wanted advice as to whether it will be better with a bigger throttle body, if so, which one!
Want to get this all sorted before mapping.
Won't be doing cams, so performance wise, this will be it.

Your thoughts please folks...

They're not worth a huge amount gains wise unless you're going to cam so don't sweat if you can't get one.

My choice Spoon > Mugen > FD2 > Skunk2 (would need porting).

Avoid J35 and J37 as they're not designed for our ECUs and there were reports of them blowing ECUs and hunting.

Have been looking about but can't seem to find any secondhand ones anywhere.

The only ones I can seem to find are j35 and j37, what causes the ecu issue?

Genuine fd2 FTW with the j37 lots of air leak issues...the j35 is matched to the bore of rrc but again I've heard issues....these may be able to be sorted through some sort of throttle re calibration tho

Just been trying to read up on the issues, seems it affects some and not others...nothing conclusive really.
Spoke to Eurospec earlier when I booked the mapping and they it would benefit from anything bigger than the stock one. Whether it is something they can calibrate in the mapping.... Not sure!

You'll make gains with a bigger one but it's not much. They're one of the hardest parts to find cheap.

Plenty run J series TBs but it's mainly the fact that they draw more current / amperage? than OEM and there were cases that it was frying the driver in the ECU. Nothing I'd risk for sub 5bhp personally.

Are the electrics in the throttle bodies interchangeable, if this is where the issue is?

They're not for J's.

The rest are all interchangeable with OEM.

i would avoid the J series ones and the Skunk 2 one.
i had J37 on mine and it was hunting the idle and drove me mad as i couldnt find the leak so i took it off and put the OEM one back on.
i would recommend either Spoons , FD2 or Toda.
i am going to try the Toda one when i have the cash

Appreciate the offer, cheers.
I have spoken to to a couple of tuners and think I will leave the Oem one on for the moment. The car is a daily and will only get a little track use so, drivability is the main thing. Both tuner have advised to stick with Oem if I can't get hold of a fd2 one.

Tdi north but Vtec direct who do all the work on my car had to calibrate it
