Bought this FN2 last weekend as a winter daily whilst I hide the Porsche away. The car was covered in poor taste: window tints that you can't see through, fly eyes on the lights and the most atrocious vinyl wrapping I've ever seen.
As I've already made a start on removing a lot of the poor workmanship, my remaining to do list to get it back into original condition:
Remove rear side window tints
Remove fly eyes on fog lights
Remove aftermarket HIDs - replace with stock bulbs
Replace headlight covers due to holes drilled for HIDs
Remove remaining vinyl wrap on nearside
Remove vinyl wrap on roof
Remove vinyl wrap on kick plates
Repaint and blow in top section of door below offside window
Replace low-temp thermostat with Honda OE
Reattach Type R badge to grill
Replace Pipercross air filter with original air box
Install Pioneer double din I have kicking around
Everyone likes pictures so let's get on with them!
This is the quality of workmanship I'm referring to. I don't know how you can finish the job and say to yourself, "Yes, this is acceptable."
Badge that separated itself from the grill:
This explains why the wing mirror cover didn't mate up properly:
Fortunately, the piece that broke off was still in the wing mirror. Work in progress whilst I straightened out the remaining clip and plastic welded the other back on:
Sorted and now sitting flush:
Flaking paint I discovered under a thin strip of vinyl wrap that I'll repaint and blow into the rest of the door:
Plenty more progress to come. I'll be selling the car early spring when I bring the Porsche out of hibernation if anyone would like a clean, original example. Besides the awful mods, the paint is in reasonable shape considering the age (2007) and the engine pulls well for 95k. Hopefully I won't get bored too soon and end up swapping it for something else!
Here's my Porsche to demonstrate how much care and attention I take to my vehicles; this FN2 will be no different. Let's save this poor Type R! I'm hoping to show some really good before and after photos in a few weeks time. That's all for now.
