Expected price to pay for CTR

Hi All,

A Type-R has come up for sale in work. I'm tempted!

What I'd like to gauge is how much you think it's worth private, the main thing putting me off is no service history (last serviced by Honda at 47k miles as confirmed by Honda).

Brief description.
2007, 70k miles, new branded tyres, new front discs/pads, few mods including remap, stainless steel Mitek exhaust, HKS induction kit.

Already have a diesel civic so this would cost a lot more to run, or I could keep it as it's only worth 1200 on we buy any car etc

Although it doesn't have a service history it doesn't necessarily mean its a bad car - a lot of people service the car themselves and do just as good a job as a garage.

I think you'd be talking in the region of 4500 - 5500 depending on bodywork condition etc.

So no stamps or invoices at all? How was it remapped, hondata? If so, you'll need to check if they still have the Flashpro. I'd say nearer 4500. Check the mot history online, usually a good indicator

Thanks for the replies. I'll find out where it was remapped. It sounds like it's been looked after. It's for sale at sub 4k at the moment, so sounds like a reasonable price!

Also, how well do these cars keep their value? If I bought it today, would it lose much in 2 years time say? I can't see it dropping a huge amount personally.

Its miles dependant but I think they are bottoming out just now at the 2.5k mark, won't go any lower than that!

Remember if you test drive it to check for the usual things.

Keep the diesel civic and wait for FN2 prices to drop even lower. There's a long way to go yet.

Yeah, think I will. The guy selling has changed his mind anyway at the moment.

Thanks for the help

I'm in a similar situation, been thinking about swapping my 2.2 for ages. But I'm not paying over the odds to swap to a car with the SAME chassis. No disrespect to FN2 owners but the chassis on the FN2 was built to a budget (same as my 2.2) and it shows. It's nothing special in terms of the early Type Rs. I'm not saying that it's a bad car either. I'd also be losing out on an extra seat and the ability to tow.

So; in my mind, there's no point in swapping to a FN2 until my 2.2 suffers a catastrophic failure. Currently its on 160k miles and does 50mpg. I'll keep servicing it and driving it for the foreseeable future. It's worth more to me than anybody else so there's no point in selling either.

To give you a guide I paid 10k for a March 2011 34,000 miler with full Honda service history from Honda main dealer with approved used warranty.
The highest recent price i have seen on autotrader is 12k for one even younger than mine.

Hopefully you get what you pay for?
