Is it time to move on??

I'm coming up for a decade of ownership of this now and despite it having barely an original part left from purchase, I've lost that spark and my enthusiasm for the car is dropping off.

But if I did sell... what next?? M2? A45? So many options but are they "fun"?

Opinions...

Out of interest what would you be looking for yours?
I'm in too deep with mine now but yours and staff's old FN02BAD are the only two I ever really fancied

Blimey, Doesn't take you lot long

By the sound of your post, It sounds like you are looking for something German ( D: ); Only you'll know what you want, but what are you thinking in the way of price and features? Moddable? FWD / RWD Preference?

I think that's going to the be the issue, there's no real market for these so it's hard to judge. I had it independently valued by a specialist firm (Benjamin Miles Engineering) whereby I gave them all my invoices, receipts for parts etc etc and they evaluated the car in terms of condition (paintwork, interior, mileage etc) and they valued it at £13,500 which is a lot more than anything I've seen on the market but (not to blow my own trumpet) there's not really anything else on the market like it - e.g. It's only done 32,000 miles, lucky if the engine has cleared 1,500 miles, there's only 2 sets of WedsSport TC105N in the UK, I've got one, the other is on Automek's 600bhp K24 Lotus Elise S2, and mines have covered around 100miles etc etc

I've got a new fuel pump for it and I'm going to buy bigger injectors and have it mapped again to get more out of it and get it running in a way I'd be happy to receive it if I was a buyer then I'll probably put it up for sale

Double edged sword this decision is:

I have been in a similar situation where I have changed cars like this, but I can vouch that the grass is not always greener on the other side..

Been a couple of times after a couple of months where I have said, "Damm, I wish I kept that car"...

Thats one nice car though, I can see why it's taken a decade to start to loose interest, but to wake up and look at it would cure that issue for me lol.

I'd like to buy it to annoy @musegroove for not liking my car
If I were in your shoes I'd be looking at an FK2. They are growing on me. A few AMG 45s, Ms etc near me and they sound a bit boring to me. Throttle and go, not my cup of tea.

Having been to the BMW club meet last year I thought there were too many william anchors who were too far up themselves.
There were a lot of sensible owners who took great pride in their standard cars but they were swamped by the "look at me" brigade who just wanted to make lots of noise with their Alpinas and turbo/superchargers.

I know we pimp our rides but it's for a different reason - go get an FK2 like flashy says, the tuners will start bringing out all the parts you need to "improve" it if they haven't already and you can have the fun all over again.

Just needs to be extra special performance-wise @flashy .

I don't do looks / carbon / scene points etc, only performance & track orientated goodies

as yourself muse, i care more for track than show. your experiences at that bmw gathering its one of the reasons i wont do meetups or cruises or whatever the kids are calling it these days. I've been prepping mine for track. not a cheap game. from the odd thread i've see, fk2 seems to be 2-3x the price of the FN2 parts for the typical common mods.
while i dont consider myself new to car mods, the FK2 has been the car thats given me nothing but headaches - lack of info/experiences, lack of track use, and only a few mods out there means prices are high.

it's not a bad car, but as a non-fn2 owner, the fk2 seems in a different price bracket to (track) mod than your current.

if i were to do it all again, would i go fk2? probably not. phenomenal car, but i cant help think going something like track prepped caterham/lotus/clio would be a better way forward and have a normal daily car. probably a 'got the t-shirt' thing than any regrets.
no, my fk2 isnt for sale even if there has been the odd voice in the back of my head at times. I'm a stubborn so-and-so sometimes. i'm hoping if i stick with it, the hassle now will be beneficial once upto my spec.

Nah German stuff is boring.
Go for an FD2 or really go for it with an R34 Skyline.😉

@romansi ...William Anchors? 😂

considered things like gt86 or nismo 370z? i did consider mx5 and giving it a load more power but i feel 250-300bhp would of been a big ask for long term reliability.

if it weren't for the fuel consumption of the nismo, i'd of likely ended up over there than here. fk2 was definately the best of the bunch if you look at the entire package, performance, daily use, mpg etc

I went from my standardish FN2 to a Porsche 987.1 Boxster S, however I got it from a friend for a very good price and I work at a dealer which makes running it and maintaining it a bit more affordable.
Very fun car I kept it for 4 years or so and it was a hard decision on my what to replace it with.
I had toyed with the idea of moving up to a 981, 997 or even a 987.2 Cayman.

In the end I settled on an FK2, cheaper on fuel, tax and parts and more practical. Plus I had owned the FN2 and EP3 previously and quite liked these when they first came out.
Second choice would have been an i30 N Performance if I hadnít liked the FK2.
Then maybe something like a BMW 140i.
