Fn2 heat shields

Evening all,

I was just wondering, how many heat shields are places underneath of the fn2 and are any of them prone to rattle or vibrate ?

Think there is 3. 2 round the cat and another 1 further down but that's from memory when my manifold was getting fitted. Could be 4 though. Where is the rattling noise coming from?

The exhaust has a silencer mid way along aswell as the back and is positioned around where your rattle is coming from.

Pulled most of mine off at the weekend

There is a shield on the exhaust manifold. Which looks near impossible to remove in situ!

- Shield on the downpipe (I've removed)
- Shield ABOVE the cat (I've removed)
- Shields around the cat (Bolted on, I doubt these will vibrate)
- Shield above the centre exhaust box (I tried to modify using a washer, where the aluminium had broken through/corroded)
- Shield behind this shield (left in place)
- Shield above the main rear backbox (Removed, as corrosion around all bolts allowed this to vibrate)

Do this at your own risk btw.

Did you have any noise beforehand ?

Does it cause any issues with it off ?

I get vibration at around 4.5k, I'm off the opinion it's coming from the exhaust. I has made a slight difference, could be placebo!

It's going into TDi North next friday, so I'm hoping they can diagnose the noise.
