Rear noise driving me mad

58 Milano CTR

When going over an uneven surface, not so much potholes or speed bumps, at low speeds 1-20 mph I get a knocking type noise coming from the rear or the car, sounds like drivers side, like the rear seat belt is knocking on the plastic interior.

I've taken out everything in the boot and bays, parcel shelf if not the issue.

What are the possible causes

Defiantly at the rear

Boot lid rubber stops may need turning up so the boot lid is resting on them

Had same problem today it was something around the rear head lining was like a buzzing plastic sound. Searched high and low even got mrs to drive car around with me sitting in the back. I removed rear roo grab handle refitted it better by tensioning the clips a little more. I then pressed all over the headlining and something clipped into place in the center part that hides blind mechanism and now all is well. Good luck with finding yours I know how frustrating it can be

Could be the rear dampers , have someone sit in the back with half the back seat down , I narrowed my 'knock' down to suspension , rear dampers replaced and its gone !!

Is the trolley jack secured in place properly? To me it sounds like something thats behind a covered area. I know you said you'd got everything out the boot. Just making sure you'd not left the trolley jack and tools in that hidden compartment.

Sounds like something in a shoebox moving about, that'd be the way I describe it anyway. Well until you've found it, just get that music on full blast

Thats the best cure tbh. I have the same in mine too. Have you up rated anything on the rear, dampers or bushes. My boot lid makes lots of rattles, nothing you can do in IMO maybe to do with the car being so stiff.

Rear noise driving me mad

Tbh it's not something I'm prepared to live with, I know the car makes noises and rattles and I have lived with that, but this is something that's happened over the last few days, a new noise and it is very very annoying,

I'm going to double check the boot bays but I am almost positive they are completely empty.

Jeeeez this thing has been on my mind that it's woke me up this early thinking about it ???

Sure its not the hidden wheel well door ?
This will bounce up and down with the bumps if there is no weight holding it down.

Can you move the tailgate locking mechanism by hand ? If so the latch has worked loose.
Several existing threads discussing this, but basically I had to remove the internal tailgate skin and tighten the two allen studs.

I'm pretty sure it's tight and no movement is there,

I've also had someone on the back seat with the seat down pushing down on the wheel hatch door and the noise is still there
