Key and alarm issue

Hello all!
I have a problem with my CTR fn2 08. When i lock it with the fob and try and unlock with with the key the alarm goes off? (Is this a standard feature?) The problem has only arisen after I had purchased a spare coded key. I had locked the car with my fob, misplaced my fob and tried to unlock the car with the spare. It unlocks and starts the car fine. However the alarm goes off. Is there anyway to stop the alarm from going off? maybe a sequence with the key in the door or something?
Many thanks in advance!:

Just to be clear, are you locking the car with the remote (which sets the alarm) and are then just unlocking the car manually?

If that is the case or if you just lock the car without arming the alarm with a remote button I would think the standard Thatcham cat1 alarm immobiliser requirements will still cut in setting both but the key being in the ignition will sort the immobiliser as it is ignition read!.

Reading it again, you need to sort a new fob or see a dealer, I doubt any override data is public for obvious reasons!

Hi fordy, thanks for the reply. Yes I am setting it with the remote and unlocking manually. However when i put the key in the ignition and start it, the alarm doesn't disarm.
Again thanks for your reply. I think it will have to be a dealer jobby.

It does sound that way, the alarm/thatcham standard requirements are set at production, the key alone will not disarm alarm but a programmed/cut key will allow the car to start. Hope it all gets sorted!

I put a similar thread on here about November time last year as I thought I had managed to get water into the alarm system as I couldn't disarm it with the fob and it was peeing it down at the time so had to manually unlock the car and drive it home with the sirens wailing.

It turned out to be the batteries in both of the fobs we low so I changed them, got the fault codes cleared at the dealer and its been fine ever since.

Yeah problem is, I only have 1 fob and one spare key. (with no fob) so if i loose the fob which i use daily or the battery dies, i don't know what ill do. I only recently bought the spare key too!! :P:P I just didn't know i needed the fob bit :P:P I went back to the place where i bought the key and the guy said that sometimes theres a method to disarm the alarm with the key alone. Maybe turning the key 3 times in the passengers door or something, but i've had no such luck finding anything

I was reading in the manual about the alarm when I got my car. Locking with the fob activates ultrasonics, they are only disabled with the fob again so unlocking with the key manually and setting off the alarm is normal.

Damit! Thanks anyway jonny! So if I go back to the place and get a fob, hopefully it will sort my problem.
