Speedmonkey iDTEC 1.6 Civic Hatchback review

Speedmonkey: 2015 Honda Civic SR 1.6 i-DTEC Review

A mostly positive review. Sorry if already posted but I did search and couldn't find it here.

The reviewer must have really thrashed the car to get such a low MPG.

Good right up and pretty much my experience of mine...

Thrashed = Enjoyed

I've said it before, the 1.6 has the best elements of the old 2.2 and the 1.8.

Yes, agreed. I "enjoyed" the engine a little yesterday. It doesn't have the same "thrust you back into your seat" acceleration as the 2.2 but it still feels fast enough and is plenty of fun. Especially down narrow country roads which is where I took it. Despite the road being rough the Civic soaked it up and the ride was smooth.

It's lighter and more nimble... feels very similar to the 1.8, but with the added bonus of low down torque

I have never driven the 1.8 but the 1.6 definitely feels smoother, quiter, and more refined than the 2.2. It doesn't sound as nice as a petrol though.
