Very positive full Autocar review

"Apart from a very minor tendency for the suspension to fuss and fidget over sleeping policemen and other urban road furniture at low speeds, you could call this the most refined car of its kind."

"In most other respects, it is every bit as good as the cars that dominate Europeís family hatchback class. In its refinement, intelligent packaging and material quality, in fact, itís little short of outstanding."

Wow, Autocar writes this about a Honda. It must be a perfect car.

Why are you so defensive about the new Civic? Yeah, you work for Honda, but I used to work for Burtons Menswear and I used to happily slag off the company.

i don't mean to offend anyone.... but just because one reviewer say its good, does that mean we must praise him and everyone that says it crap hate them???

just look at what JC said about the FN2, its slower than the old type r etc etc... most FN2 owner, me included, dont really list or care what reviewer say, everyone has there own opinion.

like everything in this world, some will like it, some wont

Wow,guys, I think you just take it too serious. I like reading a positive review because I'm a Honda fun, that is why I'm here. It's that simple.

I think we should wait for a few owner reviews once 'we' (those of us that are not relying on a few photos) start p/x ing our current 8th gen for a 9th gen.

I've always believed owner reviews to be far better than journo reviews. They only get to use them for a few hours. You need to live with one for a while.

I've looked at the competition and nothing comes close for value for money on a spec to spec basis.

Dont forget also...There were quite a few faults when the 8th gen Civic first came out...Best to leave it a year or two before buying if you can...All the recalls and design faults will have been sorted out...<COUGH>

True, but this is also an 8th gen car (despite the forum section name)...

tcooc,

The point the OP was making was that Autocar tend to be both harsh and accurate with their reviews.

If you own a car and know it well - have a look at the original launch reviews and normally Autocar have it spot on.

If Autocar like a car, then the odds are good that it's a good car.

im not disagreeing with what autocar has to say, im just saying it mean nothing to me, they might like, but does that mean its a good car?

tbh what JC said about FN2 isnt all wrong, but maybe the way he said it pisses people off.... reviewer is just one side of what its really like... i have no problem with my FN2 spoiler, it doesn't really affect my rear viability

I agree with you, car magazine reviewers are very often wrong and do not give a correct and comprehensive review. I trust in my own judgment too, it is just a good sign if a magazine that generally likes nothing but Ford, gives a thumbs up to the car. You can be sure I won't base my decision (my family is considering changing our CR-Z to the 9G) to any review, but my own test drive.

But it's promising, that's why I was happy to put it here

That's all.

i just find it funny how people agree with reviewer that say the car is good and disagree with the one that say its bad... im not having a dig at you, im just saying in general...

sometime reviewer can be very on point and say it how it is, but at the end of the day... what they say shouldn't matter.... if i became a reviewer, i just sat all audi and bmw are crap

You are right, I think it's human nature. If we like something, we need or at least appreciate affirmation because this makes us feel good, and support our belief that such a something is really good, so at the end we are right.

For some years I run an online car magazine just because I was fed up with unreliable reviews and road tests, but despite struggling to be as obejctive as possible and working with engineers, it was just another subjective review. Problem is that we can't have a car or more cars for comparions for a week's test drive before purchasing. That would have saved me some money spent on test car's petrol
