Some little mentioned extras.

I have had an iDTEC since 1st March.Done over 3000 miles.I get annoyed at the number of comments knocking the car and bemoaning the lack of fancy exhausts, door handles etc.The review by Pottsy did influence my decision to buy. That review was spot on.A few advantages of the new model in addition to the well documented ones are.The tailgate is balanced now-no more banging my head, the capless filling system, better rear view due to wider mirror surface,HSA,a silky smooth gear box, door handles that open the door without pinching the skin, idle stop which is bullet proof(unlike the CRZ I previously owned which on occasions was dangerous). Fuel economy is excellent and no stone chips yet.I shudder to think what shape some people are if they hit their knees getting in.I think they are just looking for more and more ridiculous reasons not to like what I think is a superb all round motor car.

Whilst I'm sure mechanically everything has improved and the technology sounds great. However, IMO it doesn't look right. I've seen a few on the road and think 'meh'.

I think it's great for the older generation, but I'm 22 and if I pulled up in this, my friends would probably laugh.

Why does it annoy you what other people think? If you enjoy it, it shouldn't bother you. There's many people on here who like the car, but there's also a lot of disappointment, because compared to the 8th gen, it doesn't look as good aesthetically.

I love my CTR but the 9G feels so better made. We are due to pick our family 9G today. I know it does not have the same looks as the 8G but it is still a nice car.

When I seen the 1st pic's of the 9G I said I will never buy one it's butt ugly but it grows on you and when I test drove one I fell for it.

I think people were saying the same when the 8G come out. I know I did not like them at first.

I shudder to think what shape your hands must be in if you pinch your skin whilst opening the doors !!

My Mum is 76 years old and opens all doors on my 8th gen with no problems. She just said "Does he have flabby hands ?"

I have to tell you that over the last 4 years I had complaint after complaint from people of every age all getting their hands pinched in the 8G front passenger door.

Of all the changes in the new car it is the 9G improved door handles that have created the most comments from passengers. They can be opened with almost no pressure using just ones little finger.

I'm sure Honda have sorted this because with all the old door handles that were having to be replaced it was costing them a lot of profit.

My 8th gen gets branded as a "Grandad" car by a couple of my work colleagues. The 9th gen doesn't quite have the wow factor yet. I'm sure when some people on here have cracked out the tools and played around and added bits on and painted bits here and there we'll all be a bit more enthusiastic about the 9th gen.

If the 9th gen is a "grandad" car, what does it make the Golf who's design is almost 40 years old (and looks it)?
Liked the 8th but love the 9th. Guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder... "Get it out with Optrex" as the late, great Spike Milligan once said.

Why would you be annoyed about the comments on the looks?

5 years ago when i bought my FN2 my older brother forever teased me about the ugly rear. I supported the design 100%, and i knew down the track he would grow to like it. After a year or so he admitted my car looks 'damn good'. In the end if you believe in the design, you will have the last laugh.

Unfortunately, i dont believe in the design of the 9G at all. I think it looks like a boring version of the 8G.
