Talking Second hand Civic review on Teknikens Värld

Today's Teknikens Värld episode on TV 8 reviews the 8th Gen Civic as a second hand car.

Can be viewed here (Swedish):
TV8 Play | TV8

1,8 iVTEC engine was called one of the best engines!
Handling and gearbox was given very good review.
The spacious and flexible interior and wide opening doors were also highlighted.

Noise from tyres was mentioned as a negative as was the limited rear visibility.

In summary it was highly recommended!

Also reviewed the W212....

They also said that the styling must have chocked many traditional Civic buyers.

He was not entirely positive about the dash - he said it seemed weird a first but he kind of liked it after a while.

Interestingly, he made a specify point about the brake shields claiming that they help prevent the discs from rusting....

Nothing about rattles, poor paint, failing hand brakes etc...

Thing is though unless you start to live with the car those things never crop up. Only when you start to spend real time do the creaks arise, you notice the chips on the dash, or the day your handbrake fails!

True - but a quick Google and read of the best collection of 8th Generation Civic info would have told them...

Obviously they don't go into that level of detail! Would be nice to do a TV show of car reviews by people who own and live with the cars they review. Then get an honest feel of what it is like. Although edited to reflect impartiality etc...

Reliability was only mentioned in regard to the engine, which was called excellent, partly due to cam chain instead of belt.

Ride - they liked it!

The Camchain is a real bonus of the Honda engines. I have heard of a number of people writing off their engine with cambelt failures in Audis etc

So the Swedes like a, er, hard ride !
