My 2.2i-CDTI Sport is 5 years old this month

5 years old,

90,000 miles, 83,000 of them with me.

It goes like stink for a 45mpg car.

Loads of luggage/family space.

Handles well, rides awfully.

Good brakes now (see my spec below).

Bizarrely this is the longest I have wanted to keep any car?! (over 4 years). Is that sad?

Not sad.

I've had mine 3,5 years and still like it, for more or less the same reasons you list.

Not at all, I'm paying for mine for another 4 1/2 years, lol, but even at the end of that I don't plan on getting rid (obviously depending on how she holds up between now and then).

Happy birthday Chip's car!

I can echo your remarks, have had my 2.2 Sport for 5 years next month, and am still in awe at the machine, a delight to drive and get a smile every time you get the power surge from what is a magnificent engine.
My mileage is much less at 33,000 so you give me confidence in holding on to my "Crab".
I have achieved 60mpg on a long 600 mile run, its just superb with fuel prices going exponentially upwards. The ride is "interesting", but handling makes up for it.

Had my CR-V from new and have done 56k.

Love the car, it drives better than out of the showroom. With the mods I have done on it can't buy anything better to replace it.

Had mine 3 1/2 years and to be honest just cannot fault the performance and smooth motor.Time after time the carrying capacity has proven its worth.Bonus are the comfy seats-best I've ever had (apart from 305 peugeot)

Mine is over 3 years old - love it more every day ! - I should, considering the "silly money" I've spent on it, since I bought it new - in fact, it's now better than new ! ...

No intention of getting rid of it whatsoever - if \ when I do eventually replace it, I'll most likely sit it on blocks in my garage ! ...

My 1.8 EX is also 5 years old in a week or so. It's just had its final pre-paid service.

We bought it a few weeks after getting married. Since then, we've moved house, acquired a dog, made a baby, done up the new house while living in a caravan on the drive (whilst wife was pregnant, not recommended), made another baby and I've changed jobs and started a new career. The car's been pretty much our only constant and was utterly reliable the whole time. It is not quite the longest I have ever owned a car, but it will be after another year. I am still not bored with it, which is a first for me as I've never lasted this long without being bored of any other car. I still think it looks futuristic both inside and out. I have no intention of changing it, although admitedly it's now getting a bit small for our needs! I'm not even tempted by the 2012 9th generation model to be honest, as I can't conceive how it could possibly outstyle this one (and if I'm wrong, then it will have to be spectacular).

Without a doubt, it's the best car I've ever had. Not a perfect car by any means, but certainly the most fun!

Dear God, man - slow down ! - but, I know what you mean about babies and car space ...

Even a short trip seems to demand cubic metres of space for prams \ buggies \ spare stuff \ etc. ...

Keep the Civic - buy some Thule kit (towbar mounted) - all the extra space you'll need, easily accessible, and a damn sight cheaper than changing the car !!! ...

mines just over 2 years old 37000 on the clock and this is the first car i've had a look to see how much the settlement figure is because i'm seriously think about keeping it a couple more years. I just love it from the looks to the drive I've got leather, sat nav, glass roof and 190bhp on tap which makes me smile all the way to work and that is hard to do believe me.

Its never been a bad car.
Its just shy of perfection in a few areas.
Once thats sorted...Its difficult to comprehend the point of changing it.

What else is there

You have the looks which are 2nd to none for this kind of car.
You have an engine that can give you silly MPG and silly power at the same time.
You have excellent roadholding that can be taken to a whole new level.
Only big let down for me was the brakes, which i felt wre sometimes there and sometimes not and just couldnt be trusted.
Of course....dont have that problem now.

Heres to the next 5 years
