Driving with different ET

Hi

I'm considering some new wheels on my 5D and I'm thinking its hard to find a set of wheels that I like and has the right ET.
If I have understood this the right way the original 17" on the 9G has ET50 ?
So how would it be to drive with some other ET seting like ET 45 or ET 38 ?
Will the handling get much worse or not because of this ?
I'm also concerned that the wheels will stick more out of the wheel arches and making it look bad.
Share your thoughts on this ?

My 2014 Civic have a set of OZ Omnia 7,5"x17" with ET45 and 225/45-17 tires.
The original wheel was 6,5"x16" ET45 with 205/55-16 tires.
This means that the OZ wheels are 0,5" wider in each side, having the same center position (offset). Hope you understand what I am trying to explain

I have not experienced any problems at all.
The wheels handles nicely and the weight is almost the same as the original 16" including tires (~18 kg pr. wheel)

In Denmark it is legal to use wheels with a offset ET difference of +-10mm compared to the original type approval (from ET35 to ET55 in my case).
