I had a major problem with my last car, an Accord with regards to these kinds of seals failing, although i guess the unit isn't the same on the Accord.
I bought the car from a main dealer with a full service history and a recent service, it came with their standard used car warranty and had a devil of a job getting them to contribute when I had problems less than a year into owning it, in the end the dealer contributed half the cost of new rear pads and disks and a new rear caliper. Honda UK, were abysmal.
Should have been around £950, I paid half.
They argued they were a wear and tear part part, I argued they had failed and lead to the brakes binding so much that one caliper was seized solid and the entire rear brakes (pads and disks) were scrap.
One of the main reasons why I bought new, the 2nd hand warranty is worth nothing... I was told that they (HUK) usually argue everything is wear and tear apart from electrical items that either work or don't work. And of course, wear a tear isn't covered.
