brake pad grease

is it neccessary to use copper grease on new pads these days? I have new pads to fit this weekend, pagid ones but I'm reading conflicting stories on the web about the use of grease on modern systems.

Anyone want to dish out some info on whether or not they used it?

A lot of pads have the anti squeal pads fitted to the rear of the pads already , I've found that they still squeal , so had to remove and grease up anyway .

I only use it on the very edges of the brake pads and not on the baks. So on the little bits that fit into the carrier.
