Dealer Makes Up Wear %

Hi,
Just had a service, and the dealer says front pads are 30% worn, rears 20%.

What they might not know, it they're only 14 weeks old......

Really? Do pads last under 1 year? If so, given I hard ever brake... and get high 60's MPG average, there's something seriously wrong with them.

My 8G did over 60k on a set of pads... the new car is lighter... so surely should cause less wear!

So I'm understanding this, the dealer has claimed that you've worn away 20-30% of your pads in 3 and a half months? How much driving have you done in that time - how many 000's of miles?

About 6000 miles.... unless genuine pads are poor quality, I don't think 20k from a set is right.

PAGID did 60k on my 8g... and were maybe 50% work, maybe a little more. I reckon they were good for 100k miles... which is more like it!

Hi,
For last years, (2018), MOT I changed the pads, front only, 7 days and 145 miles before the MOT.
The MOT was done at a Honda main dealer and the "Visual Health Check" that came with the MOT pass certificate stated 15% wear on the front pads.
It also said 90% wear on rear pads which was clearly wildly out but as I already had the pads I changed them anyway.

So I guess that sometimes they do.
