I’m considering buying an EX Diesel Auto. I do 25k a year and have got my head around services every 3 months. What mpg are the autos getting, is it much less than a manual?
I’ve had autos for the last few years and don’t fancy going back to manual

Over the last 10k miles I've averaged about 48mpg in my SR diesel auto. In heavy/slow traffic on my daily commute its been around the 50mpg mark. During the lockdown when I could move a bit quicker it ironically went down a bit to 48/49!

A long trip during the summer hit an average of 55mpg for the 600 mile trip. Overall I'm happy with the mpg, its not the smoothest of gearboxes but the terrible traffic means I would never have a manual again either!

I've had mine 2 years and it averages 52mpg overall, dropping to 47 on a stop start commute and I've seen high 50's on the motorway not exceeding the limit.
I agree, 9 gears sounds like it should be silky smooth, but occasionally on light throttle between 3rd and 4th it can be rough when it feels like it.
Yes, I would buy one again, and the EX trim is worth it.
