Hi all,
my name is Tomas, and I am from the Czech Republic.
I have my new Civic since May, and I still enjoy every ride so much :)
Last week I spend a few days in Austria, and I visit The Grossglockner High Alpine Road.
Here is the picture from there, 2563 meters above sea level

Yeah, you are right, sometimes i call him a small saucerman :D
BTW from December 2005 till now, was sold more than 500 of Civic's here, and if you make a order now, you have to wait for a minimum of 6 months for it

Pretty much the same here, except if you want something very exotic like a - wait for it - a diesel the wait may be a fair bit longer.

My car should be here soon and I ordered mine in February. :?

Edit:
Oh yeah, and great scenery there!

Looks good Tomas.

A lot of manufacturers test their new cars on the Grossglockner. How was it on the tight bends of the Grossglockner roads? It would test the brakes to the maximum :D

It was fascinating drive on the Grossglockner roads, no any problem with brakes like some other cars (I saw an old Skoda Octavia with melted axle caps on the front wheels under the gateway to the road :D) but it depend also on the driver I think 8)
Here are some pictures (included test cars)...

Looks a bit like the yeti on that sign back there. Crazy looking pet - if it is a pet.

Nicely done spotting the Focus. I wonder if the new Type-R might be over there as well...

There are a lot of those things about in the mountains. I think they were called Marmots. The guy was the owner of the restaurant and his party trick was to bring that tame furry beast out for the tourists to feed and touch.

They use the Grossglockner road to fully test the vehicles under extreme loads and cornering. Everything gets a work out, from the brakes to the engine/gearbox, chassis and suspension. Some of the cars I saw were towing big trailers full of water containers for extra load. Their brakes would have been red hot!

I was looking at the ride height of the Astra i one of those pics. Looks as though they are carrying a load of concrete in the footwells! That'll test the brakes on a downhill run, but I don't know if it will make it back up again :?

I saw one of those Q7's on the road over here the other day - what a bizzarely proportioned vehicle that thing is!!!??! :? :?

In fact, thinking further, very similar to the bizzarely odd looking 'R' class Mercedes that we had over here during the winter for the world press launch.......Seems like both Audi and Mercedes are trying to fill niche markets, where one doesn't really exist!!!!!

BTW, we also have loads of official Press Launches here in the Algarve.....something to do with the decent weather and 'country' style roads I guess.....in the last year I saw the new Mazda MX5, 'R' Class Merc, BMW M6 Convertible among others......
