I've ordered a civic 1.5 sport with central Exhaust in polished metal and the dealer said there is no problem putting a spare wheel into the floor space.

I went ahead and ordered a spare with it but what is the compromise with the reduced space? I asked him if it would mean that the floor level is raised causing me to lose more space and he said no.

The dealer is still wrong. I know it raises the boot floor, but by how much, I am not certain. But my best guess would be a couple or three inches.
Yo might get someone along in a bit that actually has one.
C'mon, you Sport owners. Someone must have the OEM spare kit.

Looks nice and tidy. So you just loose the 'sloping bit' in depth, which looks like a couple of inches on mine (50mm for those 'into' metric).

Thanks all, I'll ask the dealer to keep the old boot floor in case I dont like it. He obviously doesn't sell my sport models with the spare anyway when he was saying didn't affect the height.

I have dogs so I hope the higher floor doesn't put them to close to boot window, think it's worth the sacrafice though, I travel on rural country roads allot and don't want a simple punture to turn into a saga.

I bargained with him and got the spare wheel for just 100 euro on top of car price.

That is also a concern with the two dogs jumping around on it. Will try it out and sell or take it back if its a disaster. I hate the thoughts of not having a spare so hoping it works out.

Is that your own car? You happy with the raised floor?
No, pictures I found on the CivicX forum. I have the standard Sport Plus floor.
It looks very flimsy to me with those foam blocks.

I fitted the space saver wheel and replacement floor into my 2018 sport, easy fit (2 screws).

The floor is raised by around 50mm, and its perfectly as strong as the the standard floor.

I got the car with the spare installed, and instead of the hump at the back of boot been higher than the main floor, its actually the other way around now. I expected the "hump at the back where the two luggage ties are to become level with the main floor, not become lower.

Is that how yours is? Maybe the civic Irish spec is different but seems unlikely.

Space saver

Can you use the 8g on the 10g? It fits OK. Is it strong enough? The alloy standard wheels are very heavy, I think the alloy is mainly lead and cast iron.

I have it installed in my Sport Plus, it's not perfect by any means. The supports aren't great, the corners are quite floppy.

It really could have been better designed :serious:

I agree, seems like a rushed after thought, one of the initial issues I had is that my dogs can't stand up properly cause the gap between floor and glass is to small now with the higher floor.
After a while I noticed that they lie down allot more now which makes it better for me driving on windy country roads, they aren't falling all over the place.
The boot is still deceptively big, I can get two proper suitcases and two cabin bags on top and still close the boot door. That's enough for me so leaving the spare in place.
I also noticed that you can store a decent amount of stuff around the spare wheel making use of the space that would be wasted.
