They do get a 4 star rating on Black Circles but you get wat you pay for in the end. Granted the Yoko's are £180 each so you are getting a bargin with the Falkens. Most people may find it hard to find someone to fit them for less than £20 a tyre, so your best trying to source tyres that you can get fitted through the company.

one went sideways in an astra vxr 4 days after getting the wheels and tires..
the other
in a mini cooper S,

after that, i wouldnt do falkens

i would check out NEXEN though, theyre meant to be decent for the price

I think you'll find there is and has been for sometime now a fair few different Tyres out there that fit the Rage Alloys and dependent on what you are going to be using the car for then the individual of the car will make the correct choice for them.

Toyo's are good for track and there is the key - good for track doesn't mean good in all weathers and you can go through them as easily as any other tyre. PLUS you shouldn't be hammering a car in the wet - if there is lots of surface water then it doesn't matter what tyres you have on you can still Aquaplane.

agree, i aquaplanned with my michelins sp2's. Was doing 120 km/h on motorway in light rain but with a lot of water on the road.
VSA saved my ass though :) since then i keep it low in rainy circumstances

best water evacuation etc whatever they say. anyway.. all im saying is...no FALKENS for me...id be asking for it! il go for Nexen if i want budjet tires

Some might say it is even more of a coinsidence your friends were driving powerful cars which love to be driven hard, and perhaps (I don't know) it was their driving than the tyres themselves, there is nothing to say Conti's or Yoko's would have prevented the aquaplaining.

In reality Yoko will be a better tyre, but the price quoted for Falken is a good one and there is no way Yoko is twice the quality, therefore does not justify twice the money.

I would say the Toyo Proxes are a good comprimise with good performance I have seen in tests and not silly money.

Barney you would be taken more serious if A) you stoped puting Ha ha at the end of supposed serious sentences and B) if your 'mates' are the same age as you, then I can totally see how they aquaplane and sound very much like the sort of drivers that people like me and Mr JP pay extra in our premiums for.

You may also be interested to hear that Falkens come in as the mid range tyre along with your precious Toyo's.

Also i'm sure owners of the Type R (in which this topic lies) with Rage Alloys know what they need their tyres for and also what are best for the performance of their car due to modifications.

SmokeR was also just trying to show that for people on a budget can get cheaper tyres for the Type R. Not everyone has someone else to buy things for them and have mortgages, bills and mouths to feed as well as run a car and in the current climate there is a squeeze on budgets

im just not going to trust falkens...

In my opinion,it's wrong to say falkens are fk452s are crap tyres, I could think of plently that come under that category. Many focus RS owners including myself in the excess of 280+bhp 300+torque used falkens and rate them very highly. I used them for two years and not once did they let me down in terms of grip and wear. You can't really blame tyres for your mates crashes, mostly its down to the condition of the road and the driver themselves.

I have tried many tyres such as T1-Rs,T1-S,eagle F1, pradas, michelin sport 2 and the falkens. The falkens weren't the best but they were great value for money and provided good grip in all weather conditions. I will be changing to them when I'm due to change my tyres in a couple of months

Thanks for all the comments, i do feel that the Falkens are actually a pretty good tyre AND also value for money...the Toyos wear too fast for my liking, had them on the EP3 (not great in the wet either).

*Alot comes down to the driver skills and style, they will not suit a 'gun-ho, hell for leather' driver insistant on hoooning it in the wet!
