Hello everyone

I have just bought a 2007 56 Civic ES 1.8 and think it's brilliant so far. The one issue I have though is that I was expecting the car to have electric folding wing mirrors and yet it does not have them - there is no button for them on the door handle and the mirrors can be folded manually.

The car is definitely the ES model - can anyone confirm whether the ES should have the electric mirrors as standard or were they an option in 2007?

Thank you very much

Yes, the ES should have electric folding mirrors. The button for it is on the driver's side door arm alongside the window switches. It could be you have the SE, and not the ES. The ES typically has the pano roof and the auto-wipers and lights. The SE doesn't

Hi there

Yes definetly have the pano sunroof, cruise control, dual climate control, auto lights, auto wipers- everything I would expect from the ES except the mirrors. The handbook says ES, as does the HPI check.

I am a little disappointed as I was expecting this feature.

Hmm is it a UK spec car?
Did you buy it from a Honda dealer?

Take it to a Honda Dealer and check this with them - they should be able to trace the car back to when it was built

This is a little strange. Are you sure the button isn't there?

They aren't fully automatic (they don't do it when you lock-unlock) you do have to use the button. I seem to remember the button is right at the front of the arm rest.

It's the small button to the right of round button that controls the movements of your mirrors.

which is just in front of the window open/close buttons.

Thanks to everyone so far for helping on this one. I took a picture of the door card as requested but I'm pretty sure there is no button.

On the log book, the service book, HPI, everywhere lists this car as an ES model and it has all of the features expected of an ES model - except the folding electric mirrors.

I am almost certain that this is a UK model - what is the easiest way to check this?

Would a call to Honda be useful in this situation - could they tell me what options were specified?

Thanks

Mark

Yes it does suck! Ok what I'm getting from you guys is that it should defo be there and it's not. I didn't get the car from a Honda dealer, but will speak to them to see what they can tell me and I'll report back!

Yes I thought about that too. Also thought about having a look inside the mirrors to see if there are any motors in there.

Hmm all a bit strange really and don't want it to put me off my new car!

It is possible it has had the door card and controls replaced for some reason. I'd by asking why, and also asking to see the HPI report.
Or the wrong door card was put on at manufacturing and just overlooked?

Are the mirrors easy to fold in manually? If the motors are installed they'll be hard to move and there'll probably be a nasty 'crack' sort of noise when they do.

Sounds like a grey import to me.

Not good as it has massive implications for resale value.

Approach Honda with a Chassis number and get them to search it on their systems.

BTW I'm pretty sure the garage has to declare if its an import before sale. If they didn't then you're probably entitled to your money back.
