Reluctantly, I fear I may have to sell my beloved CTR as it is just too expensive to run. However, I am looking for peoples opinions on the price I may be able to get for a private sale.

I got offered a good trade in price last week, but its not quite high enough to cover the outstanding balance on my finance, so looks like Private sale will be the way forward.

Car is 2007 (07) CTR GT (+ Sat Nav & HFT) in Nighthawk Black
22500 Miles.

Original Options include rear parking sensors, type R badges and decals.

Excellent condition

Minor Mods include:
Philips Bluevision Dipped beam and Sidelights
Philips Silvervision Rear indicator bulbs

Standard 18" Alloys - 2 brand new Bridgestone Potenzas less than a fortnight ago. Plenty of tread on other two tyres.

What do you think I could get for a private sale?

A local dealer in Crawley is selling a similar model for £12,999 with 30k on the clock and a CTR GT with under 10k for £15,999. I would put it up for £15k private and gauge the interest.

I suspect that you could be looking at around £13k for a private sale.

Have done a search on Autotrader to see what others are asking?

Asking £15k would be a waste of time as its way way too much:rolleyes:. Drive the deal were selling brand new for about £500 more not so long back. I think that a realistic figure that could be acheived would be around £12k.

I dont really disagree with you, but DTD dont have any available now at that price. Also their price was for a non metallic car. This one has metallic and the sat nav. Worth maybe £1000 extra over a standard GT in the second hand market?

Also, many purchasers will just make an offer and expect to save a few hundred pounds or so?

So maybe advertise for £12,995 and consider accepting £12,500?

BTW, as I said in my earlier post - its really worth checking for similar cars for sale on Autotrader - which I have not done.

Take into account not many civics have the sat nav/hft and if someones looking for one with it the choice is massively reduced.

Then take into account some people only want nighthawk, currently reduces the choice on auto trader to 10 examples

Honda recently increased the list price of their cars

Plus you can always reduce your price, plus who ever wants it will knock you down anyhow.

If your selling private get the payment paid direct to the finance co. When you have a settlement. Then any balance to the seller.

decision made - i'm keeping the CTR. Bottom line is I love this car to bits and dont want to sell it unless it will save me significant amounts of money in the short term.

Given that it looks like i'm a grand short on finance (both from trade in and private sale prices), it would take quite some time to make that back in savings in insurance, petrol and tax on any alternative car - so I might as well plug that money into running my pride and joy for another year at least!
