Hello there.

My `57 CR-V`s gearlever gaiter is looking a bit worn, infact it has a hole on the upper surface.

I`ve found a replacement gaiter (leather) but need some direction on how to gain access to change the gaiter.

I`ve had a quick search but nothing came up.

Has anybody managed to get the gearlever surround off?

I'm afraid I haven't but mine's also badly worn and is on my list of things to do, so will be keen to see what the suggestions are - I'd imagine it'd involve taking the plastic trim off and releasing the gaiter from behind?

Attn Simple - did you opt for a new gaiter from the Honda dealer or an eBay item?

Just a gaiter from the bay, the Honda item includes the plastic surround and is £££££ so thought I`d try a gaiter first.

Well, my £7.90 leather gaiter arrived this morning from e-bay. To be honest it looks great.

I`m on lates tomorrow at work so will have a go at fitting it tomorrow morning.

Agreed it looks great and smells good too....

Well,

It took about half an hour to fit all in. Once the climate panel is off (use a broad knife as opposed to a screwdriver to lever it out) it really is quite easy.

The hardest part was securing the base of the gaiter to the surround but even that wasn`t too difficult.

So, for a fraction of the cost Honda wanted for a plastic gaiter (plus surround which I didn`t need) I now have a nice leather one.

I used some large staples. It was a bit of a faff to get them through the leather and plastic but once in they were great.

Thanks, they weren't at my disposal so I resorted to using Superglue which has done a great job! Very happy with the result.
