Bit off topic i know, but i am surprised folks are sticking with & liking the EBC brakes, from times past when i was on the MGR scene with my previous cars folks generally all seemed to sing from the same song sheet about EBC brakes (in that they were crap!) Many moons ago i had Greenstuff pads on a car of mine (it came with them fitted, i've never bought any myself!) and they chewed up the discs, and a couple of my mates had there pads & turbo groove discs and they both had issues with warping/cracking discs etc, and a fella i knew had a set of greenstuff pads crumble and fall to pieces on him on a trackday too!!!!! From a pov of my ZS180 days then it was widely regarded that you couldn't beat the standard spec MGR discs for quality (in terms of same size discs from other manufacturers!), and it was also agreed upon that the standard pads were "usually" more than capable aswell, and swapping out (certainly the discs) was seen as backward step there were certainly VERY few people who swapped to EBC and stuck with them!!!
I see a lot of folks complaining about there brakes (talking type R now btw!) on here, and to be fair i have swapped to Ferodo DS2500 pads all round, but that was only really due to my pads being over 90% worn all round when i got the car, and i knew how highly regarded the DS2500's were so it seemed like a good choice, and since tbph i've never been left wanting for brakes & i cannot see any real need for braided lines either outside of cars that see track bashings regularly, or are there a lot of nutters on here?? (guess i must be a real pansie!!)
Are the standard spec Honda brakes really THAT crap, or have companies like EBC come on leaps and bounds in the last few years!?? Like i say for "most" folks who owned ZS180's when i had mine the standard spec MGR pads and discs were VERY highly regarded, and whilst eventually after a while they were a few brands (Galfer/Mintex) of pads that fared better under track conditions, when sticking with standard spec discs "most" stayed with the MGR discs as no one seemed to be able to better them!
Yes this is a bit of a bash at EBC as from past experiences they were never that good and most of the folks i knew avoided them like the plague & Ok they may well have really improved recently too, but it also seems like the standard Honda spec stuff comes in for a bashing too!!!!:worms:
