I had my 08 Civic 1.8 VTEC regassed today and there's no leaks on the AC system, as I had that checked. But when the guy at the garage tested the AC afterwards, it worked for about 10 seconds before blowing warm.

I can hear a click when starting the car with the AC on which I believe to be the compressor kicking in. The fan is coming on also.

Is there any clear fault here or a cheap fix through experience? I can't really afford to take it to a garage at the moment but need to get this sorted.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

If it's not the relay or low gas then it maybe a worn compressor shim.

Mine handed its notice in on Tuesday driving home. Checked on here and singled out the relay under the bonnet.
When very warm the relay sticks and no cool air. The following morning when it was cooler the system worked perfectly.
New relay from Honda at £23 and problem sorted.
