Hi guys,

Does anyone know anything about auto transmision?

Last night driving home from work, occasionally when driving up a hill or accelerating quickly I was having a definate clutch smell coming through the vents into the car. The car seemed to accelerate as normal though. In my very basic knowledge of auto transmision I thought they didn't have a clutch as such. Car has 44k on the clock.

Can anyone shed any light on a possible cause of this? Wanted a heads up before going to stealer.

Cheers. :)

Brakes binding?

You are right though, autos (in the conventional sense of the word) do not feature a clutch. iirc they use a torque converter?

Ooh could be brakes... I wonder if snow and ice is building up in there? I popped into the dealer and I was told there is a clutch mechanism in an auto box but it's small, hiden, and you won't smell it. The only thing you'll smell is burning oil if there's a problem.

Another thing the dealer said was the cat smelling - it definately wasn't that!
You should not allow animals in your car. ;)
